Fix the Top Six Beauty Problems with Honey

Updated on August 1, 2010

Honey has got to the be the number one natural beauty ingredient.  There is so much you can do with it.  You can even out your skin tone, create smooth soft skin and lips, moisturize dry skin, condition and shine your hair, and even get rid of blemishes!

Honey has waxes, sugars, and traces of minerals which are uber healthy for your body. It's a natural moisturizer, as well as an anti-irritant making it suitable for sensitive skin types.  Use honey to fix the top six beauty problems.

Fix Dry Skin:

Apply honey to your freshly washed face.  Allow it to dry for about fifteen minutes and then rinse with warm water. Apply moisturizer.  Repeat weekly for best results.

Fix a Blemish:

Apply a dab of honey and allow to dry, rinse off.  Repeat this once or twice daily.  This will keep the redness down and help stimulate faster healing.

Fix Rough/Dry Skin:

Take about a cup of honey and enough sugar to create a pasty mixture (About a half cup or so of sugar should work).  Rub in circular motions all over your body.   Allow it to dry and shower off.  You'll be amazed at how effective this is and your skin will feel soft, smooth, and refreshed.  This also makes an excellent facial exfoliant and is the perfect fix for chapped lips!

Fix Dull Hair:

Mix 1/2 cup honey with the juice of one lemon and four cups of water.  Wash hair, rinse and then pour this mixture over your hair.  Don't rinse out, just style as normal.

Fix Dry Hair:

Mix 1/2 cup honey with two tablespoons of olive oil and saturate your hair.  Wrap hair in saran wrap and then a towel.  Relax for a half hour, then wash out.  This helps condition your scalp as well.

Fix Blotchy or Chapped Skin:

Use a daily cleanser of 1/4 cup honey mixed with two teaspoons dry milk.  Use your fingers to massage mixture in to damp skin. It will remove makeup and other impurities and is a great facial cleanser as well as all over cleanser.   Rinse well and apply your favorite lotion.

Make sure and use 100% pure honey to create your beauty products.  You can find this at any grocery store or natural food store.  Keep it on hand for anytime you need to have a quick fix.  It will "keep" for a very long time, and even if it starts to turn grainy, that's okay, it will just help exfoliate more.
