What to do about thinning eyebrows...

If you are unfortunate enough to be losing hair on your eyebrows through age, accident or illness, you’re sure to have noticed the odd looks people often give you. It takes them a few moments to figure out what’s missing from your face, and then they spend most of their time looking at your hairless brows and perhaps even rubbing their own brows as if to assure themselves they are still in existence. In this article, I’ll share some ways to enhance your brows cosmetically so that people will begin paying attention to what you have to say once again!

Why Are Your Eyebrows Falling Out?

The first thing you should do is determine why you are losing eyebrow hair. In addition to acute accidents and illnesses, eyebrow loss can be caused by creeping conditions that can go along unnoticed for long periods of time, like thyroid malfunction. Visit your doctor for a complete physical and some blood work if you are unsure of the cause of your eyebrow loss.

Before you do anything dramatic, make sure your losing eyebrows is not just temporary. There are a lot of reasons for losing hair on eyebrows. People sometimes lose eyebrow hair when the seasons change. Very cold, hot or dry weather may cause thinning eyebrows. Excessive plucking or harsh makeup application can cause your eyebrows to thin. If your eyebrow loss is temporary, just focus on taking good care of yourself and helping your eyebrows grow with good care. Clean your face and the area of your eyebrows gently and keep straggly eyebrow hairs neatly trimmed. It may take quite a while for stressed or damaged eyebrows to grow back, but it is possible.

Thick or Thin Eyebrows?

Learn How To Shape Your Eyebrows For Temporary or Permanent Enhancement

While waiting for eyebrow hair growth (or if regrowth is not possible) there are a lot of cosmetic treatments you can take advantage of to give yourself temporary eyebrows. If you have thinning eyebrows, makeup is probably the best choice to fill in empty spots and get a fuller, more natural look. You can use powder eyebrow makeup that you apply with a brush, an old fashioned eyebrow pencil or theatrical makeup.

When shaping eyebrows, be sure to follow the natural line of your brows. Don’t try to elevate your brows by filling in above them unless you want to give an impression of perpetual surprise. Avoid filling in below your brows unless you intend to also draw on a big black mustache don black horn-rimmed glasses and a tuxedo and smoke a cheroot.

You can purchase artificial eyebrows that can be applied in a semi-permanent manner and will even stay on while you swim. These are surprisingly affordable at only about $30 a set. Be sure to choose a shade that will complement your complexion and hair color to get the most natural look possible. A shade or two lighter than your natural brow color is best.

Cosmetic Tattoo Eyebrows

One fairly permanent solution to thinning eyebrows or eyebrow loss is eyebrow tattoos. Be sure to get a genuine, cosmetic tattoo job (as opposed to a standard art tattoo) for the very best results. Speak with your doctor or dermatologist for a good referral. Be sure to look at eyebrow tattoo pictures of the potential tattoo professional’s work before having your eyebrows done. Speak with the professional in person with your eyebrows cosmetically applied (with eyebrow pencil or powder) in a way that pleases you. Provide the professional with pictures of your eyebrows the way you want them to look to be certain you are getting the eyebrows you really want!

You Need Expressive Eyebrows

Eyebrows make up an important aspect of human expression and communication. Don’t let anyone make you feel as if your wish to have nice eyebrows is foolish or unnecessary. Let them go around without eyebrows for a day, and they will understand your point of view very quickly! When you take smart, proactive steps to determine the cause of your eyebrow loss and then follow up with proper treatment and good choices in eyebrow supplementation, you will feel more confident about your appearance. Follow the tips presented here to help grow your eyebrows back or enhance your thinning brows so you can have attractive and expressive eyebrows even after illness, injury or stressful medical treatments.
