Manicure and/or Pedicure

Pedicures Are The Ultimate Luxury

Beauty and Fashion

This weekend our son is getting married. The pressure is on to look good! Part of the preparation process is to visit the nail spa for a manicure and Pedicure. What can you expect at the nail spa?

A few years back when I was in the business world, I began having my nails done professionally. Between work, home and social activities, it was a wise investment of time and money. My two hour visit meant that I could have nice nails and still wash dishes, dig in the flower garden or type on the computer without broken nails or chipped polish. My husband appreciates that he does not have to smell nail polish in the house!

The Pedicure

It was a great day to visit my nail technician, who also owns the shop. There was one other customer leaving as I entered. I began my visit with a pedicure in a new chair. While my feet soaked in warm soapy water, the chair gently massaged my back. On the wall in front of me, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire played quietly on the big screen television. It's not much fun to have your toenails shortened or calluses removed, but the results are well worth it. I told my technician that my son was getting married this weekend and he worked extra hard on the calluses to make my feet extra smooth. I am very ticklish on the bottoms of my feet and he had me laughing more than once as the calluses were conquered.

The best part of a pedicure is the foot and calf massage. A scrubbing gel is used to remove any dead skin and make the leg smooth. After the gel comes the lotion and lots of it. My legs will be soft for two days. The pedicure finishes with toenail polish. A clear base is applied first and then two coats of your chosen color finalized with a clear coat.

I wore flip flops to my appointment. With great care, they replaced my shoes on my feet without my help and without marring their handiwork! They are amazing!

Finishing With A French Manicure

My appointment ended with a french manicure on my fingers. A french manicure does not require nail polish, but provides a more natural look with a natural pink nail bed and a white tip. I asked for a slightly different look with short nails and a high white line on the nail. They came through and I am pleased with my wedding nails. As I leave the spa, I can concentrate on the big weekend ahead and feel confident that my nails are looking good. With a breakfast brunch, a rehearsal dinner and a wedding event, I won't have time to worry about nails.

I have been a customer with this particular nail spa for over a year and have been very pleased. I broke one nail this past year when I hit a finger squarely on the drier while pulling out laundry and part of my nail flew off. One advantage to having artificial nails is that they are stronger and don't easily break.

If you have not ever tried a nail spa, finding the right one for you is important. Most spas provide regular manicures for men and women, as well as artificial nails, and pedicures. Try it, you might just like it and get hooked like I did!
