Cosplay is a word that is on the lips of everyone lately. It is not just the teenagers that are obsessed with it but adults and senior citizens, all are equally interested in this event. Cosplay events were introduced into society so people can take a much-needed break from their usual hectic lives and indulge themselves into something which is quite different from this world. Yes, cosplay events take you to another world and another dimension where you people from all universes. Oh, don’t take it in the literal meaning. I definitely did not mean that people hop up into an aircraft and go to space to meet some aliens. What people do is to get dressed in cosplay costumes of characters from cartoons, animes, movies and even from history i.e. knights and kings. They go to a particular area designated for this purpose and take part in plays featuring such characters. These people not only get dressed like those fictional and historical characters but they love it, breathe it and actually live those characters. They speak like them and act like them as if they are actually them.

Cosplay is actually a combination of two words i.e. costume and play. Therefore, you must always have a costume if you want to be a part of the cosplay event. Cosplay started in the early 90s in Japan and soon gained popularity. Now, there is a huge portion of our population who dress themselves up in cosplay costumes and portray different characters. Wearing cosplay costumes and going to such events may sound simple but it actually requires great skill and enthusiasm to perform there. People go to cosplay events for a number of reasons. The most basic one is that they enjoy portraying someone else from a different world or era even though it is just for a short time. Then there is competition and everyone strives to be the best. People also feel as if they are on vacation because cosplay gives them a break from their usual routine. Let us now have a look at some of the most popular cosplay costumes of 2019.

1- The Medieval Costumes

If you are a historian or a history enthusiast, then this one would be perfect for you. You can be a knight, a king, a princess or a prince. You can also choose to be a character from all those fictional serials and movies set in the historical era i.e. Game of Thrones, 300, Troy etc. get yourself the costume of Arya stark if you are a girl and Job Snow if you are a boy, and you will rock the Medieval theme.

2- Marvel Comics

Are you are a fan of Marvel Comics and movies just like me If yes, then you have endless option to dress yourself up as any one of the Marvel characters and trust me, you will have the fun of a lifetime. There are so many Marvel characters which you can be. The most popular one is everyone’s favorite - Captain America. All you need is a good replica of the original costume and of course the striking shield of Captain America and his mask as well. The look will be incomplete if any one of these three things goes missing. So, when buying cosplay costumes, always get the proper attire. If you are more into the Greek Gods type of things, then dress yourself up as the Mighty Thor and don’t forget to carry that Mighty Hammer.

If you are a girl, then you can be The beautiful and powerful Wonder Woman. All you need for this one is a costume of the Wonder Woman and her headband of course and you are good to go. It is just the dress that you will need to get and some guns of course. After all, this character of Marvel comes with the brains and not magical powers. Even f you do not like Marvel characters, you still have the option of the DC characters so you can have their cosplay costumes. Who doesn’t like Batman, right? You can dress yourself up as the famous Batman and make an entry in that classy Batcar. Oh, that would be epic! Nobody would be able to beat that and then you have a nice built, then you can always choose to be The Aquaman and a Trident would look magnificent in your hands and you will ace the look. I don’t know if you can find a Trident from stores but you can definitely make one at home, all you need is some creativeness.

3- Go Anime

Japanese anime series are at peak nowadays and people of all ages are obsessed with them. Let it be the famous Ryuko Matoi, Naruto, Amuro Ray, Bill or Kirito, Kisuke Urahara, you can be any one of them and the best thing about these costumes is that all you need is a Kimono, a good wig, and some light makeup and you will be good to go. However, if you want to be at the top of your game, then you should carry some popular possessions of these characters like their swords or some of the other things associated with them.

Most of us reach our teenage and adult lives but our love for cartoons does not go away. Are you one of those people too?
