Should I grow a beard?
Benefits of having a beard
There are actually health benefits to having a beard. Lets take a quick a look at a few of them.
- Sun Protection - A beard can block up to 95% of the suns rays. Having a beard can reduce the signs of aging and offer protection from sun related skin damage.
- Skin Rashes - Rashes, Bumps and Acne from shaving are caused by infections in microscopic nicks and cuts from shaving with a razor.
- Added Moisture - You have glands called sebaceous glands that produce oils for your face. A thick beard prevents this from being worn away from wiping and wind. Which will reduce.
- Trapping Allergens - You may or may not know that your nose hair traps pollutants and allergens. But the more facial hair you have under your nose the better the filter system works. But like any filter you need to make sure you keep it clean.
- Masculinity - While they are not sure if this is a placebo effect yet, studies have shown that men with at least 10 days of growth have higher testosterone level then their cleanly shaven counterparts.

Beard Style Guide
A clean beard is a healthy beard
Which every style of beard you decide to grow, you will want to keep it clean and well maintained. Washing you beard daily with a mild soap will keep it free from accumulated debris. Every few days make sure it gets a full lather scrub to ensure the skin beneath is getting clean as well.
No matter which style you select you may want to consider picking up a beard trimmer, This will help you maintain the desired length and facilitate shaping and trimming areas that are getting unmanageable. If you do not have one you will want a comb with a nice medium with set of teeth. Daily combing will help train your beard to stay in place and looking neat.
Lotions and Waxes are great if you are looking to custom craft a unique shape or style. Like with any other hair product you will want to watch out for build up.
