Silk Scarves and Shawls – The Perfect Solution to the Holiday Packing Dilemma!

Updated on August 24, 2015

When it is time to pack for the holidays, why not avoid the nightmare – costly excessive baggage. It is hard to keep underweight while managing to have the right clothing for all occasions and weather packed safely away. Perhaps, this is because you are thinking of sheer amount and not featherweight accessories. This time, when you start to pack for your holidays, try a different approach. Drop the bulky dress jackets and sweaters. Opt, instead for a select number of striking, hand-dyed scarves as well as a couple of finely woven silk shawls.

Shawls and silk scarves are lightweight for easy packing. Fold them between other clothing, or roll them into a ball to tuck into the corners of your suitcase. When you arrive, shake them out and hang them up. If necessary, hang them in a bathroom and let the steam from your shower remove all the wrinkles. They are then ready for use.

Shawls and scarves are versatile additions to any wardrobe. They are ideal accessories for almost any vacation. If you plan to stay beachside, a scarf or shawl draped from the shoulder or loosely tied around the waist, is the perfect cover-up. You can stroll from hotel to beach comfortably and adequately attired. You can even meander along the boardwalk, sit in a quiet café then go shopping without anyone batting an eye.

If you are dashing out in the cool of the evening, simply throw a shawl over your attire. This will add a touch of graceful elegance and even color to your wardrobe. This is particularly true if you select delicate hand-painted scarves with different patterns on each side. As a result, you can wear the same shawl or scarf to 2 different events – attend a pool party or dine at a fashionable restaurant, with no one the wiser.

These lightweight items are also easy to fold into your purse or bag. You are then ready for those occasions when you need to cover your head. Touring monasteries or entering temples or churches, comes to mind. A subtle shawl will satisfy demands for modesty in these occasions. An eye-catching scarf can also serve to dress up the most somber or plain of outfits if needed.

Silk scarves and shawls are the perfect accessories for any vacation. These lightweight pieces of attire pack easily. They never increase the weight of your baggage but do add sophistication, modesty, warmth and/or vivacity to your wardrobe as required.
