Sugilite Gemstones and Jewelry

Sugilite Gemstone is a powerful healing stone and found in colors like pale lavender to magenta or purple. It is a newly discovered stone compared to the other gemstones and is named after the Japanese scientist Dr. K. Sugi who discovered it in the year 1944. Sugilite is also known under the trade names of ‘Royal Lavulite’, ‘Royal Azel’ and ‘Wesselite’. This stone has a hardness rating of 5.5 to 6 on the Mohs scale with a hexagonal crystal structure. This stone is used for gemstone jewelry and healing. This stone is a good stone to be worn by those born under theZodiac Signs of Taurus, Aquarius, Virgo, Sagittarius and Libra. The Planets associated with this stone are Mercury and Jupiter. This gemstone is associated with the Heart Chakra.

Sugilite is a bit costly as far as the price is concerned. Beware of dyed stones which are been passed off as sugilite with all fancy names like Flower Sugilite, Aftrican Sugilite, Russian Sugilite, Chinese Sugilite, Sugilite Jasper and so on. This stone is sometimes referred to as ‘Purple Turquoise’ if the stone has designs like that of turquoise. However, make sure that the stone is a real one and not dyed or reconstructed turquoise. This stone is found in places like Japan, Australia, Canada, Italy and South Africa.

Healing and Metaphysical properties of Sugilite stone

Sugilite is also known as 'the healer's stone' because of its great ability to enhance healing. This stone is associated with the third eye and crown chakras and is highly compatible with Red Coral, Onyx, Chrysoprase and Turquoise. Sugilite is one of the most powerful 3rd eye activators and should be used after Amethyst. It is a Psychic Protection stone and can be worn by Healers as a protection shield against negative energy. It is an excellent stone for meditation and is said to bring peace of mind, spiritual love and awareness. It balances the mind, body and spirit. It stimulates positive feelings that aid the release of stress and brings peace of mind and calmness. It enhances self belief and confidence. It protects one against negative feelings like anger, fear, hostility, hurt, jealousy and prejudice. As a stone of love, it is said to encourage commitment and stability in love relationships. It is a good stone for dealing with emotional pain and blockages which stops an individual from moving forward in life.

This stone is also used to treat the immunity system, depression, anxiety, stress, inflammation etc. It helps to alleviate the pain of headaches like migraine. Hold a sugilite crystal to the forehead for some time for the pain to vanish. If you are stress up lie flat on a bed and hold the crystal on the third eye chakra. Pink Sugilite is said to be a good stone to fight additions like alcoholism, gambling, over eating, Out of control spending etc. Sugilite is used in the Center direction for balance and any area where there needs to be a shift or transition by Feng Shui experts. It is a good stone for space clearing and can be kept at home to create a peaceful and harmonious environment.

Though Sugilite is a soft gem compared to many other jewelry gemstones, it is quite durable. However, do not clean this stone with steam or ultrasonic jewelry cleaners. It can be cleaned by soaking it in lukewarm soapy water for 5-10 minutes and then cleaning it thoroughly using plain water.
