Best Pimple Eraser: Patricia Wexler Acne Spot Treatment

Updated on September 19, 2012

Works Overnight

I suffer from adult acne. Rarely do I get small pimples that go away in a day and never leave a scar. No, instead my face is tormented by pimples that I feel first before I even see. The dull ache starts deep within my pores and then POP, out comes a huge pimple. By then there is really nothing I can do. I wait for the pimple to erupt and hope my concealers can hide the redness. Hard scabs form around the wound, causing even my best makeup to look crusty. Then, once the scab flakes off I am left with a scar that takes months to disappear. It's been my way of life for so long. Then, on my last birthday, I received the best present, a pimple cream that erases my deepest pimples in one application.

Patricia Wexler M.D. Acne Spot Treatment with Acnostat works like magic. The one active ingredient, benzoyl peroxide, is nothing new to me, I have used many products containing benzoyl peroxide (10%), but none have worked as quickly to dry up my problem spot and PREVENT the pimple from erupting. This product actually stops the pimple from forming below the surface. It eliminates the pain and embarrassment experienced by all acne sufferers who have to walk around with a balloon on their face, and then after the eruption, with a huge red dot left behind for all to see. Yes, acne scars can be covered fairly well with makeup, but reality sets in once you wash your face. Now, because of this product, my old acne scars have time to fade without me having to worry about a new one.

Since my birthday in July I have been blessed with clear skin. Don't get me wrong, I still get tiny pimples once in a while, but they disappear in a day and never leave scars. I don't know what makes Wexler's product so effective. According to the company's website, the product is applied twice a day, or as needed, which allows the ingredients to penetrate your pores and kill acne-causing bacteria. Nothing new, right? However, I noticed after I apply the cream my skin looks very matte. It's as if all the oil on my face just disappeared. Perhaps the mattifying ingredient, combined with benzoyl peroxide, makes this product so unique, because I have tried dozens of products and none work as quickly.

There is one downside. I rarely put the product on my face during the day. It has a grainy texture and leaves behind a white residue. However, I prefer applying the cream at night because in the morning my face looks more vibrant and less oily. I strongly believe my night-time ritual prevents future breakouts. The product is given more time to penetrate deep into my pores without any heavy makeup. However, if I did happen to notice a big pimple during the day, which I haven't up until now, I would not hesitate to apply this product. I would overlook the white residue during the day because I know this product works.

Acne sufferers, if you are reading this, try this product. The price is reasonable, $15, and a little goes a long way. The bottle is tiny, some may hesitate because of the size, but .5 oz. will last for at least 3 months. I purchased mine back in July and I still have more than half of the bottle left. Currently I believe the product can only be found at Bath & Body Works, and as of today, it was completely sold out.

Pros: Erases pimples in hours, leaves a matte finish, does not irritate skin and no unpleasant odor.

Cons: Hard to find, grainy texture, leaves white residue and only comes in a small size.

5 stars for Wexler Acne Spot Treatment
