It’s time for a new year! The start of a new year goes beyond resolutions. It’s time to pull old fads out of your closet and begin to add the newest and coolest items.

Luckily for you (and your bank account), I think you’re going to find that this year's “newest and coolest items” may already be sitting in your closet….

With the mutable fashion industry and trend cycle, we often see items go out faster than they come in. However, fashion is cyclical, and most trends truly never disappear; they just simply fade out until we see them reappear in a new decade. Often times coming back looking more revamped than before.

Let’s take a look at 10 fashion trends that will be continued into 2020. Some - you may recognize, others - you maybe have forgotten about.

1. Blazers

We can confidently say blazers for women never really went out of style but this year they are incredibly new and as stylish as ever. If you’ve always been into the traditional blazer look, you’ll fall in love with these current blazer styles that have been seen all over in the fashion industry – further solidifying their staying power.

Saturated Colors

Colors usually come out during the spring, but for all of 2020, you’ll be seeing a ton of vibrant and saturated colors everywhere. Saturated anything is an easy way to add intensity to your wardrobe and these colors are pleasing to all skin tones.

Rich Fabrics

Rich fabrics like velvet and corduroy really bring the jacket up a notch. Are you feeling this blazer trend? Pair with matching bottoms for a fresh take on the modern suit.

Asymmetrical Cut

Not only is asymmetry fun and edgy – it’s very flattering too! It very trendy this season and one of my favorite looks.

2. Tie-Dye

I think we all remember tie-dye as being the cure for elementary school boredom. Now, it’s become a full-blown fashion trend and has officially been elevated to high fashion status. While the 2020’s tie-dye might be worn differently to it’s ‘60s hippy origins, its association with our culture now has relevancy.

Take a look at the progression of stylish tie-dye from the 1960s to now.

Sai Ta, a London designer says, “It’s as relevant to the times now as it was in the counter movement of the hippies. It’s a reflection of freedom and hope. The tie-dye process always creates unexpected results and its outcome is always uncertain, which I guess is the mood of the times now. The unknown is more present.”

3. Boots

4 STYLES THAT WILL DOMINATE.

Ankle Boots

Ankle boots are forever in style, but each season they get some updates. There are endless possibilities that can be worn year-round so make sure your purchasing a pair of comfortable ankle boots. You’ll thank me later!

Mid-Shaft Boots

Mid-shaft boots are perfect for in-between seasons. If it’s still too cold to wear sandals but not quite warm enough to wear winter boots, these are going to be your go-to!

Here are some ideas on how to wear mid-shaft boots:

  1. With A Dress
  2. With Boyfriend Jeans
  3. With A Knee Length Skirt
  4. With Skinny Jeans
  5. With Leggings

Winter Boots

Still not convinced about these? For two winters in a row, cold weather boots for women have been flying off the shelves and now even girls who were certain they would never be seen wearing a pair are starting to come around to the idea. There is just something about a pair of chunky winter bots that make any outfit look 10 times cooler.

Sock Boots

Sock boots are still going strong this season, we have seen some of the top A-Listers like Beyoncé and Hailey Bieber rocking these recently - and as long as those two keep it going – they’re not going anywhere anytime soon. Not only will these fit you like a glove they will match practically your entire wardrobe.

4. Flare Jeans

Don’t worry! Your favorite skinnies aren’t going anywhere, but a few different denim styles are catching on just in time for the new year. For a while there, I was certain the wide-legged denim would never come back again, but as with everything, it is making its way back through the trend cycle and I am so here for it.

Do you need a little more motivation to be convinced? Let the following outfits inspire you.

5. Aviator Sunglasses

Timeless and Flattering.

The aviator sunglasses have always been everyone’s go-to when it comes to sunglasses.

Aviators are the “pilot glasses” that have become so mainstream, there is rarely a fashion runway show without a pair of these.

The craziest part? It all started with Bausch and Lomb coming up with an inventive new way to protect the eyes of pilots back in 1936. All fashion trends truly are full circle.

This year’s aviator style goes beyond the norm as we are seeing both retro and modern styles in classic and over-sized options.

6. Red Lipstick

Power Lips

A classic red lip never goes out of style and continues to be fashion-forward.

If you’re looking to wear a shade of red for the new decade but don’t think this is the color for your skin tone – let me change your mind.

7. Band Tee’s

Is the t-shirt you got at your very first concert at 17 just folded up somewhere in the back of your closet? Well lucky for you, and the t-shirt, it’s time for it to get its use!

Band tees are in, and in my opinion, you can totally get away with wearing one to the office with a blazer and some heels.

This look is incredibly accessible and because this look is so hot right now, you’re likely to find some sort of vintage (or not!) band tee at any retailer you go to.

8. Animal Print

Not a One Print Show

The best part about animal print is that it can be attention-grabbing – but it can also be a neutral – meaning you can wear it with everything!!

I think we can all agree that leopard print tends to dominate. However, this year we see all different kinds of prints on the rise. Zebra stripes, snake print, giraffe print and so many more!

9. Bows

The Golden Globe Awards are the first major award show of the year and guess what was the number one dress trend of the 2020 Golden Globes Red Carpet? Bows.

Bows got pretty popular late last year, therefore; I think they will follow up huge into this year.

A bow detail is perfect for nearly any outfit you’ll be wearing in 2020.

10. Vegan Clothing

We live in a day and age where there is now alternative forms of garments and products that can be purchased without having the guilt feeling of animal cruelty. And that feeling has become attractive to many.

What Is Vegan Clothing?

Vegan clothing includes all garments, shoes, and accessories that are made up of materials that don’t use any animal-based product.

Here Are Some Interesting Things To Be On The Lookout Regarding Vegan Clothing In 2020:

  • The Growing Trend of Organic Cotton
  • People Are Choosing Brands That Are More Eco Conscious - A leader in the fashion industry, Stella McCartney has completely changed what her company represents by switching to vegan clothing.
  • Faux Fur
  • Vegan Slogan Clothing

We all know fashion trends come and go and we are reminded of that again as the new decade begins. It’s safe to say that new designs are on the rise but more than anything some older styles are coming back. Take these helpful hints and make them your own – there is no right or wrong way to show your individuality!

Happy 2020!
