The Cost Of Teeth Whitening – How To Get Whiter Teeth

Updated on July 14, 2010

Everyone is looking at ways to improve their physical appearance and a beautiful smile can make a big difference. There are lots of ways to improve your smile and the cost of some of the best teeth whitening systems that work can vary depending on the treatment you choose. If you are not ready to invest in cosmetic dental surgery, here are some cheaper alternatives.

What Causes Teeth To Look Dark?

Our baby teeth tend to be a lot whiter than the teeth that we end up with once we are fully grown. The colour of our teeth is affected by several different factors. Teeth can appear to be darker due to its mineral structure. Certain foods will cause staining and if you smoke you will notice that tobacco leaves a really dark yellow tinge to the surface of the teeth which gets darker over the years especially if you are a heavy smoker.

The cost of teeth whitening will depend on the type treatment you opt for. You can get products that you can buy online or at your local pharmacy which will lighten the colour of your molars.

These treatments can either be bleaching strips that you place on your teeth or you can buy a bleaching gel type product.

There are even bleaching pens and brushes available to give you bright white teeth.

Certain toothpastes have been made which include active ingredients to help give you bright white teeth. These products all range in the effectiveness but if you are after a radical improvement you may want to consider a trip to a cosmetic dentist to get treatments.

You will be offered different types of procedures which will depend on how stained your teeth are and how white you want to get them. Some dentists specialise in a professional laser whitening service and others use a chemical solution to alter the teeth’s appearance. The cost of teeth whitening when carried out by a dentist will not be cheap but once you see the results you may feel that this is indeed money well spent.

I always find getting a professional to do it results in better results and often times helps whiten them more quickly.

I started with a Dentist and then took matters into my hands with Dental White - see Amazon - does a great job for the dollars - not 100% but 95% and 50% or more cheaper than the Dentist.

    Enjoyed the Simon photo.

The best way is under the supervision of a Dentist. But I have used strips and they work pretty good.

Another hub I read claimed that a peroxide rinse each morning would whiten your teeth.

I am still so old school and have not yet invested in an electric toothbrush. i really must get onto that.

Regular dental visits and an electric toothbrush help - I got a new electric toothbrush recently with a tooth-whitening setting at the end of the programme, and it works really well.
