dentist, is this due to the trauma of having my nose pierced or nerve damage?
This sounds like it might be nerve damage, but you should really go see a doctor to confirm or disprove what's happening to you as only a medical professional could determine that.
It is very normal when you pierce your nose or ears but gradually it becomes normal you apply turmeric burnt with puree ghee with an ear bud 3 to 4 times a day and you will see it has become normal by itself.
