Have you used Coconut Oil for skin problems such as Eczema? Does it help?
It didn't for me...its a great moisturizer for the rest of your body but eczema really requires a prescription.
No, I never used. However, knowing that a skin with eczema is a damaged skin which has difficulty in retaining water because it has lost its lipidic barrier and is, therefore, dry, applying an oil such as coconut oil, may have advantages in the regeneration of the skin resetting the lipidic barrier and, thus, preventing the loss of water. Water is essential for the health of skin, even more in a skin with this type of disease. The daily application of ointments, fat creams and oils is essential to maintain hydration. But only as an adjuvant to pharmacological therapy prescribed by the doctor
not as single therapy.
I have not tried it for eczema, but taking it internally has helped my psoriasis and I apply it to the skin, as well, as I have had multiple staph infections from the open skin. It is supposed to help kill bacteria, and I have found that it helps...
It has helped my eczema tremendously, as well as cleared up most of the stretch marks I had after having my son. I apply it daily as well as cook with it and take a little bit of it in my herbal teas.
