What is the best way to clean jewelry at home?
Metal jewelry, silver, earrings, rings - what is the best way to care for and clean them?
I have silver jewellery and I use a very cheap method to make them sparkle.
You need 2 teaspoons of baking soda, boiling water, tin foil and a bowl. Lay the tinfoil on the bottom of the bowl, add the baking soda and enough water to make a paste. Then cover the jewellery with the paste and leave for 30 minutes. Depending on how dirty the piece is, it might need extra time. Also you might need to use an old toothbrush to help you along with the cleaning.
Metal jewels made of brass or copper can be cleaned by rubbing tamarind...this is an inexpensive yet effective way. For gold, the method i use routinely is to take warm water and add few drops of mild shampoo and to keep immersed the jewelry for some time and then it should be cleaned with a soft brush. My sometimes keep them immersed in turmeric mixed water which makes them shiny.
