According to Wikipedia, "White gold is an alloy of gold and at least one white metal, usually nickel, manganese or palladium."
Gold is yellow in color. But sometimes it is called white gold when it looks white. It is made white by alloying it with white metal such as Silver. For a better casting a group of metal such as Copper (Cu), Zinc (Zn) or Silver (Ag) being of same group although Cu is not perfectly white is alloyed with gold. Similarly other group of metals such as Nickel (Ni), Palladium (Pd) and Manganese (Mn) are added to form white Gold.
