I think anytime something from the past is brought up to date, we're treated to the old richness of quality and style. The faux vintage twist is pretty well-received by people today because the older looks were simply better than the way clothing styles were evolving in the 1990s and after. Certain vintage looks that 15 years ago would have been considered "dressed up" can be combined with all sorts of looks for a personal style that can still be considered casual. For men, trilby hats, waistcoats, casual neckties (and even bowties) are not even being worn ironically anymore. Classic tuxedos have returned. My wife has a lot of gloves now that she wears with dresses and they look very nice.
If you're talking about the 1980s "yuppy" vintage shorter shorts, boat shoes and black shades that people are wearing, it's nice to see that too. I got tired of the dull extra loose clothes after a while
