Best Bookshelf Speakers Under 300

Updated on January 2, 2016

If you look at bookshelf speakers over the last 10 years the trend has been for the speakers to become smaller, while at the same time delivering higher sound quality. The sound quality has inmproved to the point where these speakers can deliver the same quality as large floor speakers.

While prices differ greatly between the budget and premium speakers, you can get a lot, if you are willing to spend in the 200 - 300 dollar range.

I have selected 4 great speaker sets and shortly reviewed them in: best bookshelf speakers under 300. Brand wise I think Polk are slightly ahead of the competition and I have recommended 2 of their speaker sets. Some other popular brands include Yamaha, Sony, Bose, JBL, Insignia and Logitech.

Polk Audio TSi200 Bookshelf Speakers

Important statistics

  • One inch silk/polymer composite dynamic balance dome tweeter
  • Frequency response of 43Hz-25 kHz
  • Amplification of 20-150 watts per channel and come with two 5.25 inch diameter bi-laminate organic fiber cone woofers
  • They weigh 17lbs and are 11.8 x 7 x 15.4 inches
  • The stands have ¾ inch rubber footing that helps minimize the vibrations from the speakers, especially on hardwood floors. These feet also keep the speaker from shaking when the volume is turned up loud.

These bookshelf speakers have great sound clarity and are highly responsive to all sounds. You will hear every word, background sound, and instrument. They have just the right amount of bass for not being sub woofers. These are the type of speakers that you can turn up to a high volume without worrying about the sound being distorted. They are designed to fit in or next to your entertainment center or book shelves; and work with the style in most homes. The TSo200 speakers are great for watching movies, or listening to music. I have been looking for some speakers for my house. I have a couple but two more would be nice. I just can't believe how much you have to spend on speakers to make sure they are quality.
