Canon EOS 500D Digital SLR Camera

In recent years the Digital SLR camera market has been flooded with new models, despite this only a select few have remained favorite in the DSLR market. The Canon EOS 500D DSLR is one of those. Not only does the 500D have an increased mega-pixel threshold, live shoot, and high definition video recording, but it also caters for beginners and experts alike, with a huge range of auto and manual shooting modes.

Just to clear up a slight bit of confusion, the Canon EOS 500D is known as the Canon EOS Rebel T1i in America, they are however basically the same camera, with the same functionality.

First off the Canon 500D has a 15.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, capable of acpturing images with an ISO range of up to 12800! On top of it's picture taking capabilities it can take full HD 1080p movies at 20fps, or you can use the continuous shooting mode at 3.4 frames per second.

When you are taking photos with the Canon EOS 500D DSLR you can use the wide area nine point auto focus system to find the perfect picture, although this can easily be disabled for those wanting a more artistic image!

The Canon EOS 500D weighs a fairly standard 481 grams, not too heavy, although you may feel it after a few hours continuous shooting. It's size is also fairly normal at 128.8 (W) x 97.5 (H) x 61.9mm (D),

The exposure control on the 500D is everything you would expect and more, with flawless metering (EV 1 to 20) the Canon 500D also comes with some impressive ISO filtering options. The Auto focus can automatically adjust the ISO filter between 100-1600, which is also the manual range, however it can be expanded to 3200!

The shutter speed is variable between 30 seconds and 1/4000 of a second, more than enough for nearly any DSLR user, and it can be changed with 1/2 or 1/3 stop increments.

The white balance on the Canon EOD 500D is unfortunately standard. It has the usual Automatic mode, with daylight, shade, cloudy, tungsten, white, fluorescent, flash and customizable options. This seems fairly limited, however with the customizable options you should be able to find the exact look which you want for your picture!

To find out what you are shooting the LCD screen provides a huge amount of information, and will help you to keep track of your settings so you can get that perfect picture with the 500D.

One of the most interesting (and useful) improvement son the Canon EOS 500D DSLR was for me however it's faster loading time, significantly faster than some of it's predecessors. while this may not seem like a huge deal to the casual user, a faster start up time mixed with a top rated auto focus system, will help to make sure that you never miss your perfect shot!
