Human Dreams to Fly

Updated on May 17, 2014

You may remember this song, “I believe I can fly” popularized by R.Kelly

I believe I can fly
I believe I can touch the sky
I think about it every night and day
Spread my wings and fly away
I believe I can soar
I see me running through that open door
I believe I can fly

This song has inspired me to write this hub. Thousands or maybe hundreds years ago this was become humans dream. They want to go to the other place without spending a lot of time. When they saw a bird, there’s a wish in their mind. “I wish I can fly like a bird someday”. Of course they can’t do this, because there’s no technology at that time. Maybe they still use a horse or steam train for transportation. Plane, helicopter are just a dream for them. They never expect like what happen now. This is time I want to talk about “fly”. I thought this is become great topic for me and who don’t like fly. I thought everyone has a dream to fly on the sky.

A little history about Plane

I just want to remind again about the inventor of plane. We may still remember with Orville Wright and Wilbur Wright (Wright Brothers) are two Americans who were recorded as the inventor of the aircraft because they succeed to build an aircraft that was first successfully flown and controlled by humans on December 17, 1903. They called their inventions as Flyer. Two years after their discovery, they also develop 'flying machine' which has a wing as we now know. Other inventor is Samuel F Cody also contributes to the creation of aircraft in England in 1910. Joseph Montgolfier and Etiene Montgolfier fly for the first time using a hot air balloon in 1782. Which was then refined a German named Ferdinand von Zeppelin, in 1900. Those are the people who contributed in the aviation world in which we now know for transportation.

Many ideas to fly

Of course we can fly with a hundreds of dollar, we just seat and enjoy the flight using aircraft like Boeing maybe. But some of us have a question or maybe a wish. “That's would be a wonderful moment if we can fly in person”. We can see the bird fly on the sky, we felt the air blown our face gently and we can see beautiful land from the highest place. But how we can reach this dream? There are many research have done by the people, including agencies, private even personally. This topic would be interesting if I can share the invention of people to reach their dream so they can fly. Some of people also buried their dream because they fail to make a flying machine. From this hub I want to share the success people who created a flying machine so “fly is not a dream anymore”.

Jet Pack as "personal flying machine"

I know some of us familiar with this information and we have read this from many source, newspaper, television or internet. Maybe we know this from the movie. What is jetpack? This is a flying machine which we can use and fit with our body. We don’t need large space to operate this machine. Just like wear clothes, we can control our flight by using a joy stick in both our hands. It looks easy, right. But we must practice regularly before we can use this and shown to others.

USA version

The people in USA suddenly surprise with a man who can fly on the sky. It looks impossible but this really happen. Jet Pack Company in California has created a personal rocket. They made this stuff for people who wish to fly on the sky in individual basis. They offer service for renting flight equipment so you can fly on the sky like a bird. Before we intend to rent this rocket, better we know about the price. This company offers an experience flying on the air with the price about $200,000. We can felt the sensation using this rocket for about 9 minutes. But we can choose the lower price with T-73 model, you must prepare the budget about $90,000, this cost to flight over 75 seconds on the air. So, interested?

New Zealand version

Martin Aircraft Company of New Zealand has developed the first commercial jet pack in the world after doing research about 30 years. This company still looking for investors to produce jet pack outside New Zealand, they have target about 500 jet packs a year. This jet pack was equipped with 2 rockets and 200-horsepower engine and can take us flying high up to a height of 8000 feet. If we use premium gasoline we can reach the speed up to 60 miles per hour. Complete with 2 stroke machine, 2000 cc capacity and V4 type.  With weight about 530 pounds and height about 5 feet. The price is approximately $ 90,000. How about the second one?

Parajet SkyCar, amazing flying car concept.

If you have read my other hub about flying car with title “Terrafugia Transition, A New Technology of Flying Car”. This time I will share about another flying car concept. In the future we may be offered with many options, like transportation. I thought flying car is new concept. We may never think about this car many years ago. But this time it could be a real thing and many people try to create the best flying car concept, even for only a design. I want to introduce the Parajet. Parajet is the company which is developing seriously about flying engine. With new spirit, this company has been back after the last production in 2005 and passed difficult time. Apparently, SkyCar has been experienced improvement and refinement, both in terms of design as well as the existence of a machine. Hopefully later on this vehicle will be ready and worthy operated well. SkyCar is fully with proper operate and capable of driving with a speed of 62 mph in just only 4.2 seconds. Thus, making SkyCar became the first car in the world as an official flying car. This is good achievement for this company. I heard that we get discount about $16.381 or we just pay about $81700 before at the end of 2010.

Ornithopter, Leonardo Da Vinci follower

I thought we all knew who is Leonardo Da Vinci? Leonardo da Vinci was an artist and an influential scientist in the world. Beside his painting, like “Monalisa” as a masterpiece. Leonardo also has produced many designs from the results of his thinking. Such as: the design of water shoes, life vest, paddle wheel, the pictures chain, spinning machine, wheat milling machine, printing machines, submarines, machine guns, bombs, parachutes, tanks, cars, helicopters, and aircraft. I thought Todd Reichertdi is the follower of Leonardo Da Vinci. Todd is a PhD candidate from Toronto University. He really interested with aerospace studies. As the biggest fans of Leonardo he might to create one of the Leonardo design. He has an idea to make Ornithopter. Ornithopter is a plane that flies by flapping its wings. Ornithopter word comes from Greek: ornithospteron which means wing.

Todd has success to make this machine fly 19.3 seconds, with the distance about 145 meters at an average speed of 25.6 kilometers per hour. He has special name for his creation, he call this “snowbird” , which means the bird. The main material of Ornithopter is come from wire, carbon fiber, and wood. With the weight about 94 pounds, the length of wings about 105 feet this is comparable to a Boeing 737. The pilot moves the aircraft wing with the pedals like a bike. So the wings can flapping and fly like a plane. This is one of the most efficient ways to produce energy by using the human body. I thought my uncle (Micky Dee) will love this plane, because he is the real bikers.

Flying Saucer, inspired by UFO

UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) is always nice to be discussed. UFO still became a mystery until now. No one can reveal about what exactly this thing. I don’t know who is right and who is wrong. I heard there’s secret place in USA as a place to indentified UFO, it called area 51. I am not really sure about this place, because I don’t live in USA. Maybe some of friends from USA knew about this place. I believe UFO is still became a mystery of the universe. I have very interesting news related with UFO. How if we fly using a UFO? This might be happen in the movie, where someone was kidnapped by UFO, but this was really happen. There is a company in USA namely Moller International. This company working hard to create a personal flying pod for almost 30 years. I heard that this company was inspired by the 1960s cartoon series. This California-based company started their dream to create unusual flying machine. We all familiar because the shape of this flying machine is like an UFO. Personally I can say that the human dreams had come true. This flying saucer can take off and land vertically and travel at a maximum speed of 100mph. Powered by rotary engines, this vehicle can fly up about three metres above the ground.

Who is the man behind this creation and the founder of Moller International? Dr Paul Moller is the founder of this company. He personally said that this vehicle could travel over any surface, this is like a hovercraft. We’re not limited by any kind of surface, we still enjoy to fly over swampland, rocks, or fences. This company is offering the demonstration at its California base when this vehicle ready to sell in the market. I hope there’s special training and driving license before we buy this flying saucer. With an estimated starting price tag of about £45,000, we can buy this vehicle and ready to drive like an UFO. This is a reasonable price for a technology. Are you ready to fly?

Terrafugia, as a company in Woburn, Massachusetts, USA will release a new car. This car called Terrafugia Transition. The amazing of this car is it has wings. Of course, this car could fly on the sky. Terrafugia transition has weight commuted around 50 kg, exceed the maximum weight capacity for light aircraft.
  • The Evolution of Amphibious Cars (Complete With Pictures)

Amphibious car was created by the people to give us alternative for transportation. This was a great idea for someone who created this transportation first. For me personally this is like a great invention. When we have a dream to have unique car, this car is the best choice for us. I know we probably don't have this car, but I hope we can satisfy just read all this information inside this hub.
