HP Touchstone Wireless charging Stand for the HP TouchPad - Accessories Extend the Convenience of a Web Tablet
HP Touchstone - Must Have HP TouchPad Accessory
The HP TouchPad is unique due to it running the WebOS versus iOS or Android. However, the HP TouchPad requires power the same as all other electronic tablets. Charging docks come in many forms, shapes and sizes. Some are generic while others are proprietary to the tablet.
The HP Touchstone is the charging dock designed to be used with the HP TouchPad. It is sleek, adjustable and wireless. Unlike some wireless charging docks the Touchstone is not too finicky and gives some variance as to the charging sweet spot.
Just sit the Hp TouchPad onto the lip of the HP Touchstone and the charging begins immediately. Portrait or landscape orientation works the same. The HP TouchPad can be setup to display a particular page such as the calendar or pictures while charging or it can be used normally while charging.
I have to point out that it is wireless since it does not have to be plugged into the HP TouchPad - it does however have a permanently attached USB cable has to be plugged into the charging block that in-turn plugs into an electrical outlet.
The HP TouchPad can be charged in the HP Touchstone Stand while wearing the HP TouchPad Case.
The Touchstone also provides the perfect way to stand the HP TouchPad upright. The lip at the bottom as well as the rubbery feeling surface of the Touchstone provides a non-scratch surface so scratches to the shiny TouchPad is not a worry.
Any good electronic tablet stand needs to be adjustable. The Touchstone is adjustable via a movable one-piece leg on the backside. Multiple angles are possible and the choices will enhance reading, working, browsing or displaying.
I find myself using my iPad in conjunction with my laptop more and more. I am now close to adding the HP TouchPad to my arsenal due to the features that WebOS offers that the iPad lacks. A dedicated charging stand would be a must for the convenience it would offer and the desk space that would be saved.
Mobility is not the Touchstone's strong point. In a standing position the Touchstone measures approximately 7.1 inches high, 6.3 inches wide and 2.1 inches thick and it weighs approximately 14.1 ounces. On the other hand the HP Touchstone is a very sturdy stand for the HP TouchPad.
Although the Touchstone is a bit pricey I would suggest having more than one. Each Touchstone would provide increased use of the TouchPad whether it be for displaying digital photos in the living room, providing an alarm clock in the bedroom, providing a safe place to store the TouchPad in the home office or keeping the TouchPad available for instant use at the office.
