If it doesn't show the customized tab, create another folder on your desktop, and do the above instructions with that. Afterward, drag it to wherever you need to, and drag the folder you wish to hide in it. With folders on desktop, it allows you to customize.

all you got to do is use an alt code, alt code 255 all you have to do is hold the alt key and press 255 on your side keypad, this alt code is know as blank this will work and there you go

When you right-click a folder and choose Properties, the Customize tab may be missing. The Customize tab lets you choose a Folder icon, Thumbnail image and set the Folder type of a folder.

Note that the system folders such as Windows, Program Files, My Documents, My Pictures, My Music do not have the customize tab. This is by design, and cannot be changed.

If the Customize tab is missing for each and every folder in the hard disk (non-system folders), follow these steps to get the Customize tab back.

it works fine. if ur making it to be in another folder right click the bar at the top then un check all the checks next to name, type, size, etc. then make ur invisible folder. if theres a blank spot then put back name on, den click it. that folder will have moved to the bottom of the list then there you go.

try right clicking on the screen and selecting "sort by" and selecting "name"!

but if that dosent work...try something else like "size","item type","date modified"!

      i hope it helps! :)

for those of u who have problems....

      1)turn ur numlock on

2)DO NOT press enter after pressing 9 nine times!

3)you have to be a little quick wen ure pressing 9 on ur numpad!

4)after u press 9 nine times, you wont see anything cuz dats the point! it is like a spacebar but the difference is that the computer accepts it!

How about under properties, just choosing "hidden"... you can re-reveal under the view tab of folder options...

Mr Critical Thinking 7 years ago

One little problem... while there is no visible icon or name, it keeps it's place. So there's a rather conspicuous blank spot at the top above all my other folders. Also, it's details are still very visible in Detail view. And it's still included in the item count in the status bar at the bottom of the file window and is included in Select All or mouse selections. So basically anyone who's looking for it will find it with little trouble. So this method is pretty lame, really.

      Anyone got something better?

worked for me 7 years ago

      Both alt+255 and alt9(*pressed 9 time) worked.

Works only on number pad as reported before, just remember to hit Enter as soon as you're done pressing all the nines and released the alt key.

I also was able to change the icon and make it invisible. *There is no option to change the icon image for files, but there should be a customization tab for folders in the properties section.

using Windows 7 Home Prem 64bit
