How To Remove Facebook Image Or Photo From Google Images

Updated on October 29, 2012

Remove Facebook Image From Google

If you are looking to remove your Facebook image or photo from the Google search results then you will need to read this whole hub and follow the suggestions I have provided. It is completely free to send a removal request to Google via their automated tool, please read on for more info.

Google gathers the images from the various pages on the Facebook site. They are then stored on Google's web severs along with any associated keywords (such as your name) and the web address of exactly where on the web the original image is (or was) located.

You must first remove the image/photo from Facebook or use their privacy settings to block search engines. This is very important as with out doing this first you cannot remove the image from Google. Don't forget that Google will not update things immediately, so if you make changes to your Facebook content, it may take several weeks or even a month or two for Google to update things.

Expedite the image removal from Google Search

Waiting a month or two maybe acceptable to some people but if you urgently need to take the image down and you have already removed or blocked Google from the image (via privacy settings) then you can use the Google removal tool to get rid of the image. Just follow these steps:

  1. Find your image in the Google search results and click on the thumbnail, to the right of the page select "full size image"
  2. Now, copy the url (web address) of the full size image and enter it into the Google removal tool (see below)
  3. Select "webmaster has blocked the page"
  4. Check back after 24 hours to see the result (sometimes a removal may take more than 24hours so just keep checking back to the tool where you can see the progress)
  5. If your request is denied it may be because Google does not recognize or has an issue with the Facebook privacy settings. I suggest you then completely delete the image from Facebook and try the steps above again.

Google automated removal tool is here - https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/removals
