Facebook is a great way to connect with your loved ones, old classmates, relatives etc.

But after a point, it gets addictive and you want to go back to connecting with people in person instead of virtually. Facebook’s privacy policies also have been a big problem.

According to a study, facebook causes hundreds of divorces every year. Apart from the above mentioned problems people may have some personal concerns of their own because of which they might be looking for ways to delete their account from facebook.

So how exactly do you delete facebook account?

The clever guys at facebook have not provided a direct option for people to delete their accounts permanently. Yes, they do provide an option to deactivate a facebook account on your ‘Edit profile’ page (see screenshot)

Deactivate Facebook Account

How To Deactivate your Facebook Account:

  1. Click the account menu
  2. Choose Account Settings
  3. Select Security from the left-hand menu
  4. Click on "Deactivate your account"

If your account is deactivated all your information is instantly made invisible to your friends as well as non-friends. No one can view your photos, timeline, status updates etc even if they had been posted as public. Also, you are wiped off facebook search.

The downside of this approach is that facebook still keeps a copy of your information on their servers just in case you decide to come back. So when you do decide to terminate your facebook account do make sure you download all your data from facebook.

If you want to know how to delete facebook account permanently immediately it's a little twisted. That is what the rest of this article will help you with.

When you are following the steps to deactivate your profile, facebook will try to keep you from doing it by showing you pictures of your friends and showing the message “Your friend xyz will miss you, are you sure you want to quit facebook?”.

Don't fall for that. You have made up your mind, haven't you?

Follow these steps to permanently delete your facebook account along with deleting your facebook friends, apps, groups, prictures, videos etc.

How to Delete Facebook Account Forever

You must understand that even if you just deactivate your account and don’t access it for 2 weeks straight the account gets deleted. But there is a quicker way of doing it. Just follow this link and fill out and submit the form (shown in the screenshot below).

A Word of Caution About Deleting your Facebook Account

At all costs, refrain from logging into your facebook account for the next few weeks.

If you have signed up on any websites using facebook in the past, try not to access them for a few weeks to avoid accidental login into facebook.

Apart from the two points mentioned above, you are all set and your facebook account will be wiped off the face of the web! However, taking into account all the security and privacy allegations facebook has faced so far I wouldn't be too sure about facebook actually deleting all my data from its servers.

So now that you know how to delete facebook account permanently immediately are you really onto it?

Please share in the comments your reasons for quitting facebook and if this article really helped you with it.
