How to Get Movie Maker on Windows 7
Many long-time users of Microsoft Windows XP noticed that a program is missing in Widows 7 that was actually quite popular in Windows XP. That program is known as Windows Movie Maker. For whatever reason, Microsoft decided to exclude that program from the Windows 7 release. However, Movie Maker was widely used by many users to create simple slide shows, family videos, and projects. You can't visit YouTube without seeing at least a few videos that were created using Movie Maker. So now that the vast majority of users are upgrading to Windows 7, they are loosing the ability to create great videos using Movie Maker. Apparently Microsoft noticed the demand for Movie Maker because they have published it online as a download. Users who want to get Movie Maker back for Windows 7 can simply download the program from the Microsoft website.
A simple visit to this Microsoft site: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-movie-maker will reveal the download page for Movie Maker for Windows 7. Choose your language and click "Download."
After the file downloads, you will be prompted to install some other programs. This is because Movie Maker is bundled in with a group of programs known as Microsoft Live. However, you need not install all of them, and can install just Movie Maker. To do this, uncheck everything except Movie Maker and then click Install.
Once the installer finishes, you can run Windows Movie Maker for Windows 7 by clicking on it in the Start Menu. You will notice that it looks similar to Windows Movie Maker for Windows XP, but has several noticeably different features. You can now create movies and even upload them directly to YouTube or burn a DVD. Enjoy!
