Samsung NX 30mm f/2 lens Review

Updated on January 20, 2016

I fell in love with Canon's 30mm f/1.4 pancake lens and because I made the switch to a mirrorless camera, I needed one for my Samsung NX300. Unfortunately, Samsung carried the Samsung NX 30mm f/2 lens but that didn't stop me from purchasing it. I can get up to 7 inches away from an object to get a nice details on a small object. The lens provides great details and also gives it a pleasingly soft feel to the pictures.

Probably the only feature of the lens that I did not like is the build, it's very small and made out of plastic and has a very fragile feel to it. I've had it for a year now and I noticed that it the rings around the lens has gotten a little loose, but that did not stop it's great performance. The lens has auto and manual focus which makes it great for me if I want to change focus settings although I do not recommend it for video purposes, the Samsung NX300 captures the noise of the lens when it focuses.
