Updated on July 17, 2012

Choosing a External Hard Drive For Mac Computers

Backing up files from your computer is extremely important if you want to protect yourself from losing all the data on your computer. Sometimes your computer can completely crash without warning and you will lose access to all of your files forever. This has happened to me once when I dropped my computer, and it recently happened to my friend when his computer crashed from a computer virus that was slowly slowing his computer down. I learned a lesson from it, and I could have prevented the loss of all my files if I had backed up all my mac files onto an external hard drive.

Hopefully this inspires you to protect yourself as well, but just incase you didn't know - there are portable hard drives that are designed for PC computers and portable hard drives that are designed for Mac computers. This article will elaborate on the best kind of external hard drives you can get for a mac computer, they are completely compatible with mac computers and they make backing up files extremely easy to do.

Great hub, I'm always interested in this kind of stuff. Right now I use a 2 TB Western Digital myBook which I access wirelessly over my home's network. I have ran out of space on my MacBook Pro twice and use it to hold extra files that I don't always need, but eventually I will invest in a portable hard drive so I will save this hub. Also, did I say that I enjoyed this hub? :)
