Why Buy a Notebook Cooler?

Buying a notebook cooler solves a wide range of common notebook problems. These problems are caused because modern day notebooks contain ever more powerful components, with next to no advances made in notebook cooling technology.

To combat this notebook coolers are growing in popularity, and our top 10 notebook cooler guide gives you some of the best notebook coolers to keep your data and your notebook safe.

The problems that can be caused by overheating notebooks include,

  • Memory errors.
  • Memory failure.
  • Hard drive errors.
  • Hard drive failure.
  • CPU failure..
  • Motherboard failure.
  • Fan failure.
  • Reduced computer performance (Particularly noticeable when playing games on your notebook.

Nearly all these are fatal, but by far the worst that can happen without a notebook cooler is a hard drive failure, or hard drive errors. This kind of problem will nearly always make your data unrecoverable.

All of these problems can easily be avoided by choosing one of the best notebook coolers in my top ten notebook coolers list!.

The Top 10 Notebook Coolers

I think I have explained why you need a notebook cooler pretty succinctly, so now we can start the interesting part of my Top 10 Notebook Coolers hub!

The following ten notebook coolers are in my opinion some of the best notebook coolers on the market. Choosing one of these will guarantee you a reliable notebook cooler to match your notebook size, whether you need a hard core gaming notebook cooler, or a whisper quiet silent notebook cooler.

So without further ado, lets begin the Top 10 Notebook Coolers!

Top 10 Notebook Coolers

Logitech N100 Top Ten Notebook Coolers

10) Logitech N100 Top Ten Notebook Cooler

The Logitech N100 is often referred to as the Macbook Cooler because of it's sleek design whch goes so well with the Macbook series. While it does seem that the Logitech N100 was designed for the Macbook series, up to 17 inch normal screen.

While the Logitech N100 has had mixed reviews on reliability, it comes at a cheap price for fantastic performance.

The shape and style of the Logitech N100 makes it ideal for lap use, as well as desktop use. While the Logitech N100 is not the most powerful, or the most quiet of notebook coolers, it does look great with any macbook.

The biggest downside of the Logitech N100 is it's low performance, which leaves it relegated to the number 10 position of this list!

The ThermaPAK Notebook Cooler pad is one of the Top Ten Notebook Coolers!

9) ThermaPak Notebook Cooling Pad Top Ten Notebook Cooler

The ThermaPAK notebook cooler is a heat dispersing notebook cooler which provides short term notebook cooling. While it is pretty limited, I have included it in my Top Ten Notebook Coolers because it is a pretty useful notebook cooler for people who use their notebooks for short periods of time.

The ThermaPak is basically a heat absorbing pad which is filled with a special type of crystal. The ThermaPAK is a fairly effective way of absorbing heat for up to around an hour. Unfortunately the heat absorbing crystals in the ThermaPAK have only a limited capacity, so as time goes on the effectiveness of the ThermaPAK will reduce slowly, until it becomes ineffective.

For this reason the ThermaPAK does not rate too highly on my top 10 notebook cooler list, however I kept it in because it requires no power to run, and it is highly portable.

Antec provide some great notebook coolers, and this easily makes it in to the Top 10 Notebook Coolers!

8) Antec USB Notebook Cooler

The Antec range of notebook coolers is well respected as one of the worlds most popular notebook cooler brands. The Antec notebook cooler is the most basic of the Antec notebook cooler range, but it still provides some of the worlds best cooling, and easily earns a place in my top ten notebook coolers list!

The Antec USB notebook cooler has a simple design which allows for great airflow and heat dissipation, with a simple lightweight design. The power of the Antec USB notebook cooler is only really moderate, but for most users it will be more than enough. If however you are looking for a little more power, the Antec 200 Notebook cooler could provide the little extra notebook cooling you need, and you will also find the Antec 200 in my top ten notebook coolers!

7) Xpad Simple Top Ten Notebook Cooler

The Xpad is an incredibly simple design which increases your notebooks airflow, and easily fits up to 17 inch notebooks..

Unlike most of the top ten notebook coolers the Xpad has little in the way of cooling gimmicks. it has no fans and no heat absorbing crystals. Instead the Xpad works by lifting your notepad on four risers, allowing your notebook to 'breath freely'.

I had some doubts as to whether or not the Xpad should be included in my top 10 notebook coolers. It is not really that effective at dissipating heat. Overall I would say the XPad is a great notebook cooler for people with low end laptops, which become moderately hot. However if you are suffering from serious notebook over heating issues you may be better choosing a fan based notebook cooler from my top ten notebook coolers list.

The Thermaltake CLN0009 is a large and silent addition to the top ten notebook coolers!

6) Thermaltake CLN0009 Thermaltake Notebook Cooler

The Thermaltake CLN0009 notebook cooler should probably rank a little higher in my top ten notebook coolers list, it has a super quiet 230mm fan in it, for silent high performance cooling, it is lightweight, and it easily fits a wide screen 17 inch laptop. The main reason that the Thermaltake CLN0009 doesn't quite make it in to the top 5 notebook coolers is simply because this Thermaltake notebook cooler has a plastic construction supporting a metal mesh. This is pretty poor at heat dissipation, and gives it a slightly flimsy feel.

Nevertheless the Thermaltake CLN0009 is a fantastic silent notebook cooler, which can compere with some of the best silent notebook coolers out there, especially with it's cheaper price tag!

5) Zalman NC2000 Top 10 Notebook Cooler

The Zalman NC2000 range is a fairly well established silent notebook cooler brand now, and while it has in some ways been superseded by it's big brother, the Zalman NC3000, The NC2000 has to be included in my top 10 notebook coolers simply because it is so well made, well designed, and highly functional.

The Zalman NC2000 manages to give some of the best notebook cooling, while maintaining some of the quietest noise outputs in the fan based notebook cooler market. The Zalman NC2000 is quite simply one of the best silent notebook coolers out there that money can buy.

This is in my favorite notebook cooler, however, for some people the remaining four notebook cooelrs might just be a little better!

4) Antec 200 Notebook Cooler

The Antec 200 is the second most powerful notebook cooler on this list, but unlike the NZXT Cryo LX notebook cooler, the Antec 200 Notebook cooler is much more quiet. While the Antec 200 notebook cooler is far from a silent notebook cooler, it is surprisingly quiet considering the cooling power it produces, thanks in part to it's high quality 200mm fan.

The size of the Antec 200 notebook cooler is also pretty immense, it can easily fit a wide screen 17 inch notebook, as well as smaller notebooks. The 17 inch notebook cooler size is becoming increasingly common nowadays, but this classic model has had that size availability for years!

Cooler Master Notepal X2 Notebook Cooler

The Cooler Master Notepal X2 notebook cooler is one of the best notebook coolers to have ever been released in it's price range. The great thing about the Cooler Master Notepal XD is that it comes at an incredibly cheap cost, and yet it still contains high quality components with high reliability.

The 140mm fan can keep your notebook cool with surprisingly little noise for such a cheap notebook cooler, keeping your notebook safe from overheating problems.

The reason I love the Cooler Master Notepal so much is because it is so functional at such a low cost. It comes with variable fan speeds, two different height settings and can accommodate a 17 inch notebook with ease.

It's design is well thought out, and ensures the entire base of your notebook is well cooled, no matter how much load you put on it.

2) NZXT Cryo LX Top Ten Notebook Cooler

The NZXT Cryo LX notebook cooler is well known for its powerful notebook cooler capabilities, especially for high end gaming notebooks. The NZXT CRY LX powerful notebook cooler is the only real NZXT notebook cooler release to have hit the big time, and that is simply because it is one of the world's most powerful notebook coolers.

If you are looking for a gaming notebook cooler then the NZXT Cryo LX notebook cooler could be your perfect notebook companion.

If you are looking fro a silent notebook cooler however, you may find a Zalman notebook cooler is more up your alley!

As well as noise levels being a downside for the NZXT notebook cooler, some people also find that the 15 inch notebook cooler size is a little restrictive.

1) Zalman NC3000 Series Top 10 Notebook Cooler

The Zalman NC3000 series is a pair of notebook coolers which are very similar, and you can find more about the differences on my Zalman NC3000 hub. The Zalman NC000 easily makes it to the number one spot of my top ten notebook cooler. The Zalman NC3000 has near silent running, combined with impeccable reliability, and high powered cooling.

The Zalman NC3000 has a large 220mm fan, this supplies a large amount of cool air to the laptop, without the whirring whine of smaller fans. The 220mm fan itself is incredibly high quality, and remains quite and smooth running for years after purchase.

The entire range of Zalman notebook coolers are fantastic in both quality and functionality, their latest notebook cooler, the NC3000 is by far my most favourite of notebook coolers though!
