Web Sites Free For Beginners

Updated on August 19, 2009

Press Release: "Web Sites Free For Beginners" My New Blogger Blog!

(This is just to let you know: today I am celebrating finally jumping in and doing my first Blogger blog! I am so excited! It's not done yet by any means, and I know I still have a whole lot of work to do, like working on my keywords and meta tags, plus write about 1,000 more articles all over the place, so I'm sorry about the copy job on my first blog post over there, but I wanted my HubPages friends to be the first to see what I have done over there!)

Please, please, please go visit my new blog and add your comments, ok? After you get done commenting here, I mean! :)

Web Sites Free For Beginners

Many of you are out there spending big bucks on building, hosting, and promoting your web sites or blogs.

Why do people do this? I don't know.

When I first started out, I didn't have the money to be shelling it out everywhere - especially when I didn't really know what I was doing yet, and everything I put out there was an experiment, or just for practice. This is why I built free web sites, instead of taking a risk of losing a bunch of money on my failures.

And I still build my own web sites for free!

Most people think you can't make money on the internet with free web sites, but that's not true. The biggest proof is on Blogspot, where people are making lots of money on their free hosted blogs.

The idea that free web sites hosted on free web hosts were somehow "shady" or "not to be trusted", has pretty much fallen by the wayside. In my opinion, it was never true anyway. You have to give all the same identifying information for your free web sites as you do on paid ones. So owners of free hosted websites are really just as accountable as those who are paying. Web services providers will still try to sell you this line of baloney, though, to keep you paying through the nose.

Why all my perseverance in building free web sites and learning all this stuff? Why, to figure out how to make money with my own free websites, of course!

Can you earn money for free on your free web site? Certainly, you sure can! Just ask Grizzly at Make Money Online For Beginners! He makes plenty on his freely hosted Blogger blog! And he's happy to teach you how to do it, too - without all the hype and sales pitches being rammed down your throat! Go check him out to learn how to make money with blogs hosted for free!

It wasn't that easy trying to figure out how to keep up with the big guys when I was only working with freebie website stuff. They had lots of money to spend on all the high-priced fancy techno gadgets, scripts, and graphic stuff I couldn't afford. How could I compete with all that?

I developed extraordinary researching abilities to discover free ways to build my own free websites, so I could get my free web sites to look as good as their expensive ones.

It was out of the question to hire someone to build my free websites for me. No way could I afford it. I could not afford to buy web templates, either, nor fancy web designer graphics and logos. So I had to learn html on my own, and how to make my own templates and graphics through free web design tutorials.

Pretty tough for someone who had never seen html before, and had no idea what was involved. But I figured it all out, for the most part. At least I know my way around a little bit, or can pretend I do, anyway.

I found the free html tutorials, free graphics tutorials, free web editing software, free graphics software, and technical information I needed to start building free web sites. And I set myself to learning everything I didn't know about building free web sites and free web site promotion.

Through a lot of research and trial and error, and with some major OMG moments when some crappy web hosts and software screwed up all my hard work, I learned where to get the best free web hosting, and which free web hosting providers had the best services and best free web tools. Which ones give you the most free web space and bandwidth with the least forced ads.

Things have even improved a whole lot since I first started building my own free web sites, and have gotten better and easier for people who build free websites. Now we have free hosting providers who will give lots more storage and bandwidth, and who will host your databases and will allow you to add Wordpress, Joomla, PhpBB forums, Social Networking scripts, Python, Rails, E-Commerce scripts, and a myriad of other free scripts and databases onto your free web hosting account, almost as easily as the click of a button.

I am like a kid in a candy store just looking at it all! My free websites get more awesome and easier to build every time! And not only that, but free web sites are not so looked down upon as they used to be!

I did come up with several favorite free web hosts after all this time. I will be doing close up reviews of the best free web hosting providers in my future posts, and I will share them with you, so you will know who they are, too. But for now I want to concentrate on just letting you know what I am going to be trying to do on the Web Sites Free For Beginners Blog.

I spend a lot of time digging around on the internet looking at other peoples' web sites and promotion strategies, so I can learn what gadgets, techniques, and strategies they are using to get the success they are enjoying. Whenever I see something really smart, cool, or innovative, I immediately try to figure out how to implement it myself for free on my own free websites.

Over the years, I have learned the hard way which are the best free web hosts, where to get the best free templates, who has the best free graphics for your web site, how to use free online graphics tools and free graphics software to make your logos and free web graphics, where to go to get free web design tutorials when I get stuck, who the best free affiliate networks are, and how to use free SEO tutorials, free SEO software, and free online SEO tools to promote your websites for free.

I can also tell you about the best places to write articles to promote your blog for free, the best free mailing software, (not Aweber!) and the best free classified ads sites to advertise on. There are a lot of good places to write articles to promote your web sites for free and earn money from Google AdSense, Ebay, and Amazon while you are doing it.

But probably the best one is HubPages. I have written articles there that were indexed and ranked very high with my chosen keyword phrases on the first pages of Google within a couple of hours. Go check out their Guide to Generating Revenue now, sign up and start making a little money right now by writing articles about whatever you want to write about. I'll clue you in on the other free article writing places later.

It seems like the free search engine optimization and free web site promotion are the hardest parts of building free websites. The building part is the fun part, but choosing the right niche keywords, optimizing your site for the search engines, and promoting your website for free is painstaking and not that much fun. (Not to me, anyway!)

But optimizing your site for the search engines is the nuts and bolts of building a free web site, and is the most important thing you can do for your free website or blog. You have to do it, because without it, you will get no traffic at all, and your site will die a quick death.

In advance, I can tell you that I will be sharing my free website building secrets with you - such as how to build a free website by yourself, how to get the best free web hosting, free website building and free graphics tutorials, how to optimize your site for the search engines, what to do to make money with your free web site or blog, and how to get free targeted traffic.

In short: every bit of knowledge and all the tools you need to start building free websites and making money for free.

So, if you want to learn how to build websites for free, get free website building tutorials, free software, free web tools, free graphics, and free tutorials on how to make money for free with your free blog or website, then subscribe to " Web Sites Free For Beginners "

I already have 10 categories of stuff to help you build your own free website, with 39 sub-categories of things you can use to build free websites with. Just so you know: You can expect this blog to be a veritable authority on everything you need to build free web sites and start earning money now!

Hey! Do you like my fancy new Social Bookmarking widget at the botttom of the post over at the Web Sites Free For Beginners blog? Go check it out! Just an example of the cool stuff I find for building free websites!

I'm not really a big fan of social bookmarking myself - I'd rather get free targeted traffic generated by good old-fashioned SEO. But hey, any traffic is better than no traffic, and some of you have your niche networks built up nicely enough so it works for you.

If you would like to add this Free Social Bookmarking Widget for Blogger from SocioFluid to the bottoms of your blog posts, go get the script from the above link, then just open your editor to "layout" and select "add a widget", then select "add your own widget", and copy and paste that script into the box. Click save and then drag your new widget and dump it into the bottom of your post box. Click save again, and done! It's easy!

If you don't want to go through all the copy/pasting, you can also add the widget directly to your Blogger Blog with their widget installer tool at SocioFluid Blogger Widget Tool

When you get done, you will have a brand new social networking widget in the bottom of all your blog posts that will look just like the one below.

And yours will be cooler than everyone else's! ;P Enjoy!

Keep coming back! I've got lots more! :)

In the meantime, start asking yourself why you are paying out all that money for hosting and promotion, when you could be doing your web sites free ?

Here's to a long and prosperous future of building free web sites and making money for free!

Thanks for being so kind, gramarye. It's definitely not easy, but I keep plugging along... So far I have made the most right here at HubPages. HubPages articles get indexed right away and do get Google traffic. I've had articles here get indexed in 10-15 minutes!

      For you, Choke Frantic;

If you are still interested in trying to make Blogspot work for you, DO go to and learn how to do it the right way. There are valuable lessons there to be learned.

There is nothing wrong with free web sites. It is how people fail to optimize them for the search engines. Lots of Blogspot blogs fail simply because people do not realize that you must add META TAGS with your description and keywords, plus robots.txt tags. Blogspot does not tell you this! So people are unaware of it, and that's why they fail to get traffic to their blogs - search engines can't index them!

Don't give up! Go to Grizzly's, learn how to do it, and go back and try again! You will succeed if you really want to!

      Again, here is the formula:

      1) Do keyword research and find a good niche topic with high search rate and low competition

      2) Pick out the best keywords for your niche by using keyword analysis to see which get the most searches

      3) Use those keywords in your url, your title, your headers, your content, and in the ending of the page and the footer.

      4) Learn how to promote your site and get backlinks

      5) Keep producing fresh useful content.

      6) Add limited but good affiliate products. Add Google Adsense.

Rinse and repeat. Make some money!

Thankyou so much for the tips, MagicStarER. Unfortunately, I haven't found much success in using Blogspot, which has really put me off using free web sites.

I never heard of Hot Yellow, and don't know what kind of site it was.

But "Web Sites Free For Beginners" is nothing but a blog to teach people how to build their own web sites for free and showing them where to get everything they need to accomplish this for free.

Here is a sample of some of my future articles for the blog:

Basic Principals of Building a Good Web Site

Basic Elements to Include in a Web Site

Using Your Computer's File Directory For Web Site Files

What Kind of Web Site Builder Should I Use?

Basic Structure of a Web Page

      Where to get HTML Tutorials

Should I Use HTML or CSS?

Using Free Templates For Your Web Site

      Making Your Own Free Templates

How to Make Your Own Free Logo Banner

      and etc, etc,

And myself applying the good webmaster principles of niche blogging, keyword research, and good search engine optimization (if I am ever able to figure the dang crap out and do it right!) to get a good Google ranking and attract web traffic. (which I hope will click on google ads and buy affiliate products, just like here on HubPages...)

You look smart about SEO - Can you help me do my Blogger meta tags? (And yes I am serious about this!) Go look at source code, don't even have the tags in there yet! I am trying to figure it out... I don't even know for sure if you code the tags the same way for Blogger as you do on a regular site. Anybody know?

Web CEO is telling me that my favorite keyword "web sites free" does not appear in my site's url.. I'm like, HUH???? YES it DOES! I really do HATE SEO!!!!

So I don't get why you would say something like "You never know when these will disappear overnight" Why did you say that?

I think you might be talking about the way the big IM's use rewritten articles posted all over the place with links back to themselves (link farms - and yes, Google sniffs those out and disappears them!!!!)

The only reason I'm making such a big deal of the blog is because I was scared silly about having a blog and now I am excited and hope I get lots of traffic and make some $$.

There is no gimmick, no big sales pitch, no nothing. Just a help site with tutorials for people wanting to learn how to build web sites for free by themselves. Along with plenty of resources telling them where to get free software, graphics, web tools, content, and etc.

Or don't people know you can really have free websites?

Sure you can, if you know how! Here is my latest new free web site: Angelina Ballerina's Dance Shoppe

A completely free web site in every way, with free hosting, free template made by myself, free logo banner made by myself (ugly needs redoing!), a free javascript horizontal navigation menu made by myself with a free online menu maker tool (I HATE JAVASCRIPT as bad as I HATE SEO!), free games for the kiddies that I found myself to put on there, more free content, Google Adsense for free, a free blog, a free forum, free contact forms provided by the web hosting co, and best of all a beautiful free, remotely hosted online niche store which has nothing but Angelina Ballerina products in it.

The site is not even indexed by search engines yet. But is getting about 50 hits a day. I haven't made any conversions yet on affiliate products on the home page because I have not put any on there yet! This makes me laugh about those 50 hits, because really, I was just being silly when I got the wild hair to build an "Angelina Ballerina" site for the kiddies! Maybe not so silly after all? We'll see...

All I'm saying is that yes, you can build free web sites and make money with them, yes it's possible.

All free. Do people really not know they can build free niche sites with stores? If that is true, then I am going to make a killing teaching people what I know! Especially when I come out with my new Niche Store project I am working on! ;)

      To Emohealer:

Thanks for the congrats. I have been building small websites for quite a while now, at first not even expecting to make any money, but just to see if I could do it or not, and because it was fun.

Due to my health and messed up economic situation, I needed to figure out a way to try to earn a living that I am able to do, which is sit in front of my computer and write. Starting that blog is a big deal to me - I was scared to do it - course I was scared to start writing here on HubPages, too! LOL

I never knew how to do the SEO for my websites, and they never got much traffic, and earned about nothing. Then I got here on HubPages and started writing - I haven't even written very much yet, only 18 hubs, and only half of those are really of good quality - in my opinion, anyway. I just wanted to see what this AdSense/Amazon thing could do for me here. To my surprise, a couple of my articles have done fairly well, and a little Adsense money is starting to trickle in.

By reading all of other Hubbers articles I learned that you can make backlinks here to your other sites and get more traffic to them. Then I runs into Grizzly's site over there, teaching people how to make money by blogging. And a light goes on.

To John: I am a beginner at SEO and internet marketing. It's like you say. Every time you want to truly get in there and try to make some money online, when you click on the leads, you get to a page where they want a pile o' money.

Grizzly's "Make Money For Beginners" is a site where he teaches people how to set up niche blogs, do keyword research to find the best keywords, fill the content with keyword rich material, and get ranked on the first page of Google so you can get lots of traffic coming, make money on their AdSense clicks, and maybe "convert " 2-3% of those visitors into buying your affiliate products that you have placed on your site.

Now, Grizzly is sure enough teaching people the right things and for free. But you must remember that this guy is an EXPERT internet marketer and is making thousands a day. He is ranked #ONE on Google for the cut throat search term "make money"! He did not get there by being stupid. And he most definitely is "in it for the money". BIG money!

What made the light bulb turn on over my head is how he finds a good niche topic, builds a blog around it, optimizes the site with keyword rich content after researching for highly searched, low-competition keywords, gets backlinks all over the place, and gets boo-koo traffic.

Figure it out: if he gets 5000 visitors a day, like he says, and converts 3% like he says he does for his clickbank or other product, and an average clickbank conversion pays you around $17.00, then how much are you making a day? ( I think I need a calculator on this one...) Anybody got the figure off the top of your head? Anyway - it's a lot of money!!!! Plus how much Adsense do you make per hundred visitors? Anybody?

Add that stuff up. Now consider another thing, and you will really understand how very smart he is.

OK. Think of this: He has all these people desperate to make money going to his site, and they are so grateful to learn all this stuff, that of course they ALL give him FREE BACKLINKS ALL OVER THE PLACE!!! (I even gave him a pile of them myself, and then it dawned on me that this was his intention in the first place!) Imagine what that does for you on the search engines! Oh, yes.... he knows what he's doing, all right.

Like I said: a smart guy!

What Grizzly gives over there is a good thing - What he gives for free over there is information. In return, he gets Adsense, conversions, and mega backlinks. This is how he makes all that money.

But on the other hand, on MY blog, I will give information AND ALSO I will be giving people TRULY FREE STUFF to use to build their free web sites and blogs. Collecting this stuff is a hobby of mine, and I have TONS of it! Why NOT share it with people, who like me, and like John here, really NEED this stuff so they can get online and try to do something for themselves.

Like I said, I am just a beginner. But I do want to see what I can do with this. I will put a few well-chosen affiliate products on the blog, and people can decide whether it fits the bill for them or not. Even people looking for free stuff might want to actually buy something if it is what they are looking for.

If I can actually learn this SEO thing that Grizzly keeps talking about, I hope that I can make money with the Adsense and some product conversions.

No John, I have not actually made any money with this yet. For one thing, I just put it up there last night, and nobody but you guys and myself know it's up there yet! It can take several weeks or even months to get indexed by the search engines. On Hubpages, however, it sometimes takes only minutes or hours! Which is why Hubpages is such a great place! If I write an article pointing a link to my main place that needs traffic (backlinks), I can get my main site to show up in the search engines faster and get indexed faster.

When I do get indexed, then I have to do the next step, which is to see how Google is looking at my keywords, and see how people are getting there with my Google Webmaster Tools, and with Google Analytics. Then I can adjust my meta tags and content to coincide better with that information and get indexed higher in the SERP's, then after that, I would add my Adsense so I can get it displaying the right keyword content that will get me clicks.

Not to mention, I have mapped out at least 11 categories for the content of that blog and 39 sub-categories, which as you probably know, amounts to several hundred keyword and content-rich articles which would even make the blog worth it for anybody to want to go to. What I have done here is take on a mammoth project! (I call it my "Master Plan" Muahaha!!!!!)

So no I have not made a red cent yet. But this can take several months to get it started, and even get it indexed, and your SERP's stabilized into a good position. It is a learning project for me. But if I can make it work right, yes, I expect I could make some money. After a WHOLE BUNCH of work and cussin'!!!

This is just a start, guys. Some of those big fat cat marketers who are using this formula have several hundred blogs and websites (or even thousands!) and are making TONS of money!!! But, see they are using article-rewriters and content submitters, etc, to automate all the hard work of article writing and directory submissions to get backlinks to those sites. Some pay human re-writers and submitters. So they clean up! (Until Google wisens up to what they are doing, that is... and slaps them down! Otherwise known as the "Google Slap")

I am thinking more in the line of just several good niche sites, maybe 10 or so, and doing things the honest way. Plus I get to feel good because I really am putting the free stuff out there that people can really use.

(Did you notice Hubpages slapped me down to a 45 on this article? Probably because I used this hub to get a backlink to my blog.) I knew that might happen. Why did I do it? Because Hubpages is awesome, and I know it works! I might get to see "Web Sites Free For Beginners" listed as existing tomorrow, albeit as an indirect link coming from HubPages and not directly from the blog url. ;P

TO eovery: God! I sure HOPE it will work! SOMETHING has to, and soon! Love! :)
