Is social privacy dead, or are there ways of protecting it?
Frankly, I think all privacy is dead. My uncle who is 90 and lives is Hawaii is all excited because he found Google maps, looked up his address and found street level photos of his house. He was thrilled - I on the other hand think it is awful that someone can find our address and get a picture of our house.
How do you protect yourself from that? I would say stay off line and don't join any social sites, but as you can see with Google maps, you don't have to be online to have your "business" out there for everyone to see.
Do not post details about your life that you do not want shared. Don't get addicted to status updates and feel a need to tell everyone what you are doing at that moment. Do not automatically upload every picture on your phone to the internet. Converse with others in email instead of public forums to add a layer of privacy to the conversation.
If it isn't online, it's still relatively private.

I have noticed since the rise of social media, that it seems that boundaries have become cloudy as it pertains to our kids. I have seen people down right cross the light with calling someone's child under ten vulgar names and making obsene comments about the child. When you call them on it, they...
