Apres Un Reve And Pavane By Faure
Faure Apres Un Reve - The Ultimate Dreamy Music
I love Faure's music - it is gorgeous -but have you heard Faure's best music? Faure's Apres un reve is the ultimate in dreamy music! If you have never heard Pavane, Op.50 by Faure, Faure's Dolly Suite (Piano) or Apres Un Reve then you are in for a delightful new experience.
I remember playing through Apres Un Reve at college having discovered the song in a practice room and I was completely enchanted by its romantic melody. I already knew and loved Faure: Requiem, but this song, Apres Un Reve, was far more intimate. The tune of Faure's Apres Un Reve is romantic, sad, dreamy, contradictory, uplifting, enchanting, spiritual - how can I say.... it sounds sparce yet opulent? The Pavane, Op.50 by Faure is even more gorgeous!

Gabriel Faure, consummate artist in composition
A Cello commission of Faure Apres Un Reve
Gabriel Urbain Faure was a consummate artist when it came to composition, he wrote beautiful melody and yet managed to be not quite as modern as Debussy or Ravel. His music harks back in some ways to earlier times. This makes it wonderfully opulent and Apres Un Reve, having started out as one of three art songs for tenor, has become a classic for cello.
A couple of years ago I bid for a commission of Faure Apres Un Reve for Cello Ensemble, the bid was unsuccessful, and yet it has since become one of my best sellers on Sibelius music and one of the first arrangements I put on Youtube. This page is about Apres Un Reve and other Faure favourites and I hope you will love it as much as I do!

Apres Un Reve by Faure - Cello Ensemble - My arrangement of Faure Apres Un Reve
I chose to attempt the commission because I really love this music. I was a little naughty in that I also composed a counter melody but I think Faure might have liked it. I hope so anyway.... Here is the video of my electronic version (I did not have access to six cellists and a bass player)
