fire rated interior door price - cost of half hour, one hour, two hour rating

Updated on October 9, 2011

Fire door , before going into the subject , something we must learn about the fire. Fire being used for both good or bad. Fire is being used for melting as well as for joining the material , cooking food, creating steam, for power generation.

Even we know how to do fire fighting. Comparing to all the natural calamities from water, wind , the artifical and natural way of catching fire is difficult to control , and even frequent also.

In the presence of oxygen or oxidizing material , any combustible material catches fire. Fire is a combination of heat and light.Even though we protect the combustible material in a right way, once it gets contact with right proportion of oxygen or catalyst with oxidizer , it catches fire.

Any houses or apartments or offices needs fire safety. For that even doors should of with fire retardant material. Depends on the location of door , say front door, interior door or corridor door , we choose fire door. Choosing of firedoor based on fire rating. There is half an hour , one hour , two hour , three hour Fire rated doors available.

Here , I would like to highlight about firerated wood door. Wood has the heat conduction 0.3% of steel.Lower the conductivity of heat , the material will not allow to spread the heat , nearest objects. By this way, the spreading of heat can be avoided. At the same time , the rate of burning is slower in wood comparing to other combustible material. To increase the rate of burning , this type of doors used with certain type of fire retardant chemicals.

Half an hour fire rated doors are recommended for corridors and even for front doors where we need to avoid more smoke. One hour and two hour doors are used for interior purposes, where we really need to avoid spreading of heat .

This type of fire rated door comes with a gasket , which act as sealing to avoid spreading of fire. Even this type of gaskets are subject to test for its longevity sealing performances.

Fixing of fire rated doors needs special , fire rated hardwares. Even though we prefer non-metallic hinges for nice looking purposes, it is not recommended for fire rated door. It should be of steel.

Even locks , latches , tower bolt should be of fire rated material.

Garage doors take up a large portion of your exterior house (depending on the size of the garage), and whatever decision you make will be how your house is viewed and perceived by neighbors, and enjoyed by you.

Lowe's (the store chain) has several shower doors that you can choose from. The best thing about Lowe's is that there is most likely a location near you, so you can drive and see the shower door before deciding on it!

Thank abczyxone for the comments. Without the awareness of fire safety we lose both valuable things and life also.
