It stands for Search Engine Optimization, i.e. using great keywords for the search engines to latch on to.
SEO is an an abbreviation for Search Engine Optimization which is a term commonly used to describe the art and process of making a website to rank high in search engines when a specific word is searched by a potential visitor through a particular search engine like Google, yahoo, or bing The ultimate goal is to have your page be in the top 10 results of a search and optimaly in the top 3.
As you have heard SEO stands for search engine optimization. It is however far more complicated than just putting in keywords. It is a constantly evolving activity because search engines like Google keep changing what it takes to get a high ranking in the search engines. What ever you do never pay some one to teach you SEO. The chances of being ripped off is very high Currently it is a combination of using key words and getting your self linked to as many credible sites as possible. The links can be gotten by submitting articles to online "magazines" and submitting your site to online directories. There are NO SECRETS. By using YouTube and Googling you can learn everything there is to know about SEO. It just takes time- I on the other hand I found this out the hard way and am about $20,000.00 poorer for the lesson.
