    Programs unable to connect to the internet for downloading updates. Any help?

    I can't connect to the internet to download updates. However i can browse the internet. I checked the firewall but did not find anything unusual. I use windows vista home premium.

    I have found that with many Vista applications you need to give the programs or applications permissions to execute and connect to the internet.  You can always temporarily disable the firewall to test but make sure you enable it immediately since you do not want anything to get on your computer.  Are you running any internet security programs?  Sometimes these will prevent other program access as well

    Your machine is very likely infected ... If the problem persists, please describe the symptoms, also stating your security product.
