Can I upgrade my Athlon X2 240 to a quad core without reinstalling Windows?.
OS is Windows 7 64bit?
Motherboard is Gigabyte Ma785GM-US2H
I think I want an extra core or two for a virtualized copy of Windows XP.
Yes you can.
However, there is a limitation in Windows that may cause it to ask for re-activation if you have already switched other components in you system. Not that activating the OS is very problematic, but I thought you should know in case you've lost your serial number or whatever.
