The new kind which will be most probably be revealed later this year or early next year.  Keep your eys open and ear pointed to the sky.

Solar is probably the most important. The downfalls to solar at the moment is the cost of producing the solar cells, something that could be overcome with greater investment in research.

My personal favorite is biomass fuels for gasification....especially waste gasification via plasma systems.

    Two words: plasma gasification.
The creation of inexpensive systems that create energy by breaking down garbage into simple materials. Three things are created:
    - Energy
    - Simple materials (metals and glass)
    - Distilled water
So in one go, we eliminate our garbage heaps, recycle simple and reusable materials, create a freshwater source, and create unlimited amounts of energy.
    Sounds good to me.
(Oh and the only reason this isn't being funded, is because landfills initial cost is cheaper, companies don't consider long term profit margins)
