If Diamond is the hardest material in our world?
If Diamond is the hardest material in our world. if the diamond is a hardest among all the materials in our world?
Diamond is the hardest naturally occurring substance in the world. But there are synthetic substances harder than diamond. For example silicon carbide is very hard and is used as an abrasive and refractory material in industries. It is also called carborandum. Carbon and silicon, both electro-positive, do not bond normally. But if both of them are ground at a very high pressure and temperature, then silicon carbide is formed. It is very stable once formed. Diamond possesses the highest refractive index out of all substances and that is why it glitters.
Diamonds are the hardest natural substance known to man, and a diamond can only be scratched by another diamond. Around half of the world’s diamonds originate from South Africa, although significant deposits have also been found in Russia, Australia and Canada. Globally, around 130 million carats of diamonds are mined each year, worth in the region of USD $10 billion. You must contact the Quantum International Diamonds for more information regarding diamonds.
