Do you use any of these two antivirus; Google Pack and AVG Free, which one is better?
The two free anti-virus and anti-spyware, which one will you recommend and which is far better? Explain.
Please stay away from AVG. They are horrible and constantly putting add ons and wanting you to upgrade. Microsoft security essentials is definitely the best out there. I would highly recommend it.
No. There are other better tools out there. You'll need multiple that work well together.
They are Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE). MalwareBytes, and OpenDNS.
For general virus/malware protection I use MSE (download at http://goo.gl/KGJyq). It's free, simple, and it works--who else better to track down Microsoft operating system or related virus or malware than the folks who made Windows.
For finding and catching those tough to remove fake antivirus and other ad-based crap, MalwareBytes does the job. It compliments MSE and you can get the free version here: http://goo.gl/7YMTK. There is a paid version. The free version does the job, regardless. The difference between them is that the paid version will do real-time detection of infections, while the free requires you to do a scan before it detects the infection. I use it when I catch one of those scareware fake antivirus that MSE didn't. Fake antivirus can really screw up your computer. If you decide you want to get the paid version, it only costs around $20 at Amazon.com-http://goo.gl/L4xPn. I got the lifetime version; pay once and get a lifetime of updates.
To keep you from ending up at bad or malicious sites, I use OpenDNS. This tool doesn't really install on your computer. It is a service. You need to sign up for it and you have to make some minor network configuration changes to your DNS settings. You can get the free service at http://goo.gl/7DiuA. This tool can really help prevent you from ending up on bad sites (e.g. sites that try to steal your identity or your accounts), as well as keep you from ending up at adult sites (great if you have kids).
Microsoft Essentials is the best free anti-virus protection available.
You can go the MicroSoft Downloads and get a new Virus Removal Tool every month and a new Malware Removal Tool every two weeks. All for free.
MicroSoft Essentials has almost daily updates. I had installed Bitdefender after reading articles that it was the best, but it wouldn't run properly on my computer.
