Preventing Search Engine Visibility Of A Website In Some Country - Is This Possible?
Is it possible to prevent a website from appearing in search results in a certain country or countries? Conversely, if a site is blocked from certain countries, will that site still be visible in the index presented by the search engines when someone in that country does a specific keyword search?
Yes you can set a geographic location for Google using webmaster tools. But other search engines may find the site as it is specific to Google.
Most true. Google's Webmaster Tools is specific to Google, but they all have their own version. Bing/Yahoo share one I believe.

Hi Sapper, yes I am sure you are right. Can't imagine there wouldn't be a similar facility for this with all the big search engines.
