Can I earn more money by maintaining a blog than writing for hubpages?
Edwin, since you're new to HP, take things one at a time. Some blogs you can't maintain like at Wordpress. I've made very little money on my book review blog with Amazon and Adsense alone. Just work on your hubs first and the money would come later. As for blogs, you have to update it with new content, just like here. Start with getting 10-15 hubs to join the ad program and then add Amazon and ebay capsules.
Kristen pretty much covers the answer here, but in addition to that you should also consider that building your own blog's authority is hard work, whereas Hubpages have done this part for you.
I would recommend you carry on with hubpages for now and only consider moving to blogging when you are making decent money on hub pages and got lots of followers.
