Did You Know a HD TV Needs To Be Tuned?

I was surprised to learn when you buy a HD TV it needs to be tuned (settings adjusted) in order for it to provide the best possible HD quality picture.  Did you know that?  Seems like many buy HD TV and just turn them on without realizing that they need to be tuned.

yes it had to. Otherwise you can't find the channel and the stupid antenna, you have to keep changing the location

No . . . I didn't. Does that generally mean someone will have to do that? Do you have experience with that. Just curious . . . others? I have been pondering dumping my traditional picture tube set because it is simply too heavy for me or almost. So, a HD set of kind most likely with an antenna too.

You can still watch a HD TV untuned, but you will not be getting the best picture quality.  Generally yes.  Google this subject.  There are plenty of people offering advice.  Google the specific TV you are buying for tuning suggestions.
