How can I block Motherboard.vice.com and lifehacĸer.com referral spam?
I'm getting spam in my Google analytics with the domain motherboard.vice.com and lifehac?er.com (which looks like lifehacker, but the k is a Russian character.) How do I block these?
For motherboard.vice.com, do the following:
Open Google Analytics go to the "Admin" tab and click "Filters" on the right side of the "view" area. Then, click the "Add Filter" button. Put whatever you want as the Filter Name (it's best to be specific... maybe motherboard.vice.com so you can remember what it's for.)
Select the "Custom Filter Type" and in the Filter field, pick "Campaign Source" from the list of options. In the "Filter Pattern" type motherboard.vice.com.
Click the save button at the bottom.
For the lifehacĸer.com one, follow the same steps, but make sure you put in that Russian character instead of a k. Lifehacker.com is a REAL website that could bring some great traffic, but the Russian version is spam, make sure you type the right one! Your best bet would be to copy it right from the title of your question!
