Florida looks to get ahead of curve on driverless cars

Feb 09, 2012 (The Orlando Sentinel - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Florida Rep. Jeff Brandes hopped into a special Toyota Prius recently and rode down Interstate 10 during a break from the Legislative session in Tallahassee.

Driverless cars would be a great service for elderly and handicapped but $80,000 is a bit steep to pay.
I've been reading stories about Googles driverless cars driving around on Nevada and Californias streets for over a year and it seems to be a huge risk for the company. Are they branching out from the internet now...and is this the reason for those awful search results?

I have wondered about this. I would love it - I hate to drive. But I wish we could take it a step forward and create a car that hovers - the tire thing I find more wasteful than gasoline.
