How to Backup Gmail Offline and Restore

Gmail is one of the most popular e-mail systems and the reasons behind its continuous success is easily understandable : easy user-friendly email interface, advance mail filtering, and huge mailing space. But one of the most important fact about Gmail is the you can easily take backup your important emails to your computer with the use of a free software, available from With this software you can also have the facility to restore your backed up emails into Gmail account at any time.

To take the advantage of Gmail backup and restore facility, at first download the free Gmail backup software from "" and install it into your computer. After installation, start the back-up software and fill it with necessary information to start the backing up of emails from Gmail server into you own computer. In the back up box,You just need to type your own Gmail ID, password and the directory of your own computer, where you like to have your emails backed up.

Now, just click the backup button. If the “Newest emails only” check-box is selected, all the new emails will be downloaded. If you need to download the emails for a specified day or from a range of days then just uncheck the “Newest emails only” and mention your date ranges. In case, you need uploading your emails to your Gmail account, just insert the Gmail account ID & Password , then click the “restore” button of the backup software-that’s all.

Gmail backup and restore tool is a very handy freeware, especially for those who handles a large volume of important business emails every day.

Before starting your backup operation you need to enable IMAP in your  Gmail account. For  enabling IMAP go to your Gmail setting, then simply select "enable IMAP" in IMAP access section.
