The iPhone's greatest appeal are its thousands of apps that one can download and use. Many are very useful and free, or at minimal cost. While there some very basic medical apps one can download to use, MIM Software, has created one especially for the medical field and hospital use, it is called Airstrip OB or the Mobile MIM system. Doctors can download the app onto their iPhone to view sophisticated hospital tests such as MRIs and CT scans. This allows the doctor, who may be hundreds of miles from the patient, to make a diagnosis via the iPhone, or other smartphone. The doctor can now simply obtain the sensor results of a patient on his mobile phone. With a couple of taps with the finger, doctors can view in real-time, all the data attached to the patient.

The iPhone is available from the Apple store.
