Nerd Gadgets For All The Nerds Out There

Updated on May 14, 2014

11 Hi-Tech Gadgets For Every Nerd And Geek

Presenting here some of the coolest nerd gadgets in circulation today. Let's face it, we all know somebody who is nerd - or maybe you are one. Years ago we all made fun of nerds, but not today. Being nerdy today is cool. Being nerdy means you really belong and you'd be surprised just how many people are trying to adapt and become nerds just to be "in" with the nerdy crow, to be popular. Viva la nerds!

But if you have a friend or family member who is on the geeky side, what type of gifts do you give them for their birthday, Christmas, Valentine's Day, graduation day, or any other occasion throughout the year? Nerds have a bit of a different kind of taste when it comes to what they use in their geeky ways.

Wanna know what the cool gadget in this picture is? Click here to check it out!

So let's see some interesting gifts that nerds like to get (my cousin is a nerd, so I've learned a thing or two from him) and how can you avoid making a fool out of yourself by giving them the wrong kind of gift!

So presenting here is a different kind of gift idea...for the nerds!

Lost: The Complete Collection

If you've missed the show (maybe you lived on another planet in the meantime?) then here is the entire collection. Also perfect for a gift for any Lost lover. It's not only the 6 seasons, but a lot more, extra never shown footage, a collectible Lost game and various artifacts. I predict the entire collection to be worth a few years after on the market quiet a lot.

Retro Phone Handset - Native Union Moshi Moshi Retro POP Handset for iPhone, iPad, iPod, and Android Phones

Now this is one of the cool nerd gadgets if I ever saw one. In fact, I did see one, my cousin has it (in purple, no less). Seriously, only a nerd would look favorably at such a weird idea. So you basically have your ipod, ipad or whatever else modern phone you've got lying around, and you hook it up with this nerdy retro phone handset. Check out the images below for more details.

And as nerds would have it, just because it looks retro it doesn't mean it acts retro at all. It is quite modern, including all the features that you'd ever want, including noise reduction technology which gives a really clear and crisp sound; a one-touch button that allows for direct pick-up or closing of the phone and if you touch it, you'll feel how soft and polished it is. It's actually a real joy to hold it. Also my cousin told me that it's compatible with eveything that has a 3.5 jack attachment, such phones, pcs, and everything else in between.

Thermos R2D2Novelty Lunch Kit, Star Wars with Lights and Sound

I truly like this gadget. From its futuristic style you'd think is a Star Wars toy or something. Not even close. It's a thermos, no less.

One for the real nerds, and one with a twist: it flashes light and has sound too (except for pouring coffee that is). If you have a sun who is a self-proclaimed nerd (hey, being nerd today is cool!), get him this thermos to pack his lunch in it. He'll be soon the popular guy at school!

USB Powered Neon Sign with At (@) Symbol

This is truly a cool nerd gadget if I've ever seen one. Every nerd loves computers, period. More so than the rest of us, poor humans. Now imagine a lamp that is a neon light actually and not only that: it reminds the geek that he or she is indeed a geek every time they look at it: it has the @ sign on it. It's not expensive or anything (I've seen it at Amazon for around $25) but it's as cool as it gets.

A real tribute to the real geeks. What better Christmas or birthday gift than this?

Coir Doormats - Unique Ambigram "Come-in" "Go-away" Coco Door Mat

Planning on visiting a nerd any time soon? How about this cool 'come in / go away' doormat? It shows the different message depending on how you're looking at it...or how the nerd turns it at the doorway. Only a nerd can think of such a message...don't you think?

It is made of coir coco door mat fibre and it will last for quite a while as it is made of a durable material.

Rusty Headphone Hoodies - Men's GREY Headphones Hoodie

Well, this is not a gadget, but a wearable art for the nerds. For all the music geeks and music lovers in general, these hoodies are simply awesome! The hoodie is made with more than 60 genres of music - all handwritten, including the image of a cool headphone as the background drop. The color of the hoodie is gray, perfect for the guys.

Tron RC Lightcycle

Here is a fun toy for the nerds (and lovers of Tron Legacy as well): a remote-control vehicle that can drive up and down the walls. Now which other vehicle can do that? In the process it is emoting a light trail. Just make sure that the floor or walls are smooth and clean, and you use fresh batteries as one of the 'perks' of this toy is that it uses up the batteries quite fast. Otherwise, it's a hoot!

What if you're not a nerd but you want to become one? Here is the perfect dress-up accessory: glasses, bow tie and a pocket protector. You might be running away from girls, but watch out as you might end up being chased by the new 'nerd chaser girls' instead. You know, those who love geeky guys with big glasses, a skinny look and an IQ above average!

Echo-Bot Voice Messenger - WowToyz Alien Spy 3 Pack

This is a fun gadget for the real nerds and geeks: a robot that records messages. It records up to 10 seconds and the message is activated and played as soon as the robot detects any movement. Really clever.

It's not only extremely useful (and fun) to be alerted by any intruders, but also moms will never miss their kids' messages as soon as they get home from grocery shopping - you know, when you have kids who simply hate leaving written notes and messages!

Illuminated Shower Head

MagicShowerhead SH2026 Continuously Fading LED Illuminated Shower Head, Chrome, 7-Color LED

Geeky comes, geeky goes and geeky showers with this cool illuminated shower head. It comes in 7 colors, so you can enjoy the transition between each color. You don't need batteries to power it, it is actually powered by the water pressure itself. A fun gadget to own or to give as gift to any self-proclaimed nerd.

USB Remote Missile Launcher - Dream Cheeky Storm Computer Controlled Missile Launcher

Dream Cheeky 901 Storm O.I.C. Missile Launcher - NR Electronic Reference Device

Finally here is a gadget that is super-cool for any nerds. It has pretty much anything that you wanted or didn't even know it should have: pc-controlled, MSN/Windows Live Messenger integration, and even Skype integration!

You can now control the missile launcher from anywhere you're right now in the world, including Timbuktu! The perfect fun to annoy those dear to you - and to guard your desktop from snoopy eyes and fingers while you're away.

Angry at the management for refusing your salary increase request? Fire a missile or two at them and claim full innocence: you weren't even there. Totally fun!

Well Charles I think these gadgets apply to both, nerds and geeks :) I know the two are not quite the same, but they do have common characteristics, and both types definitely are a bit 'different' and interesting in their obsessions.
