7 Great Reasons To Visit Thailand

Updated on February 18, 2013

Why Thailand Is One Of The World’s most Popular Destinations

Thailand is one of the most popular countries in Asia for back packers and holiday makers alike, and for good reason. Thailand 's economy is boosted by tourism but, apart from in a few places, it has been largely unspoiled, so travelers can still experience the true flavor of this beautiful country. Apart from its obvious appeals, a big draw for many back packers to the country is the low cost. Travel, accommodation and food are all cheap compared to western standards. A small budget can go a long way, which is why it is no surprise that with its bountiful charms and low cost many backpackers find they stay here for a lot longer than planned. Thailand has a wealth of attractions that make it one of the best travelling and holiday vacation hotspots in the world. Here are some of the best reasons why this country should be a top of anyone's destination with list.

Unforgettable beaches. Thailand boasts some of the best beaches in the world, lining both sides of the southern peninsula, the gulf and Andaman coasts are blessed with clean sand and crystal clear waters.

Island hopping. Thailand has many islands dotted long the two sides of the southern peninsula, in the gulf coast and Andaman Sea . Choosing which ones to visit depends on how you like to spend your time. If you want lively beaches and modern attractions head for Phuket or Ko Samui or if peace and solitude is your thing, the national park islands such as Ko Tarutao National Marine Park are the places to go. Saying that, even on the established resort islands it is still easy to find quiet unspoiled beaches and peaceful accommodation.

Full moon parties. The famous full moon parties on hat run beach on Ko Pha Ngan island are legendary and not for the faint hearted. You do not have to be staying on the island to enjoy the events as extra boats are laid on from neighboring islands on party nights.

Food. Known for its fragrant dishes made from fresh ingredients, Thai food had become very popular outside of the country due to its wonderful flavors. Where better to enjoy this culinary experience than at its home, be it in road side restaurants, grand hotels or at stalls in bustling night markets. If you enjoy seafood, the meals you can enjoy on the beaches of the islands of Thailand will surpass your expectations, freshly caught that day and cooked on beach barbecues. It doesn't get any better.

Thai massage. Not so much a relaxing massage as a full body work-out. Be prepared for your body to be pushed and pulled in all directions. You can go to recognized institutions for the experience or many larger hotels will also provide the service. Alternatively, it won't be long after you've hit the beach that you'll be approached by someone offering a Thai massage. How qualified they are is a gamble, but having a massage under the shade of a coconut tree with sounds of the sea lapping the shore is hard to beat.

Diving. Some of the best diving in the world can be had in Thailand , with its clear waters and reefs teeming with aquatic life. If you are a novice or a pro at diving you will find plenty of qualified dive schools and companies prepared and ready to give you the dive experience of your life.

Temples. Thailand is rich with temples. It's impossible to spend any time in Thailand without passing them. If you only visit one, it should be Wat Phra Kaeo, the most holy of all the temples in the country and which is part of the awe inspiring Grand Palace in Bangkok . The Grand Palace is a complex in Bangkok that will take your breath away with its beauty and should be a must for anyone visiting this wonderful country.
