Uncle Johnny's Nolichucky Hostel was founded by John and Charlotte Shores in the year of 1998. The hostel provides a weary hiker with great accommodations and even offers a reliable shuttle service for all hikers.They also gladly offer bike rentals for the hikers who prefer to cycle into town to purchase groceries for there hiking food sacks. A Laundry service is always available for only a small fee of five dollars. For twenty dollars each night a hiker can take a hot shower with clean towels provided, have the luxury of a thick matress to sleep on, and greatly enjoy the magnificent air conditioning system for a night. It is always perfectly fine with Uncle Johnny if a hiker prefers to simply pitch a tent out on his front lawn for the night. All that Uncle Johnny asks for in return is ten dollars to camp out on his front lawn. Uncle Johnny's hostel is located on the outskirts of the quite little mountain town of Erwin,Tennesee. All of the staff working inside of the hiker hostel are always very welcoming, extra friendly, and extrodinarily helpful to all hikers who step foot through there front doors. The trail hostel mister Joe owns is a converted three car garage that sits directly behind his own personal residence. Inside of the trail hostel is a wood stove for heat, comfortable couches, beds, refrigerators, electric stove, hot showers, many sleeping cots, and all the fresh free-range eggs a hungry hiker could possibly care to eat.

A pleasant sounding mountain stream trickles through her backyard and a person can find great tranquility rocking in the rocking chairs on her back porch. Miss CeeCee is so hiker friendly that she actually directs hikers off the Appalachian Trail with her creative little signs and upon arrival a hiker must be ready to eat delicious homecooked soul food. Always respect Miss CeeCee's personal home space because she quite will litterly invite you right inside of her own house with open arms. Once inside just sit back, completely relax, watch her fire up that antique kitchen wood stove of hers, and have many great conversations in the process. The Greasy Creek Friendly hostel offers bunk houses for only ten dollars each night. If a hiker happens to be running low on cash then that is no problem because Miss CeeCee is always open minded to a work to stay type of arrangement. A hiker might have to chop some firewood to stay the night, but all the hard labor is well worth it for a warm place to stay for the night.

A very nice hiker hostel sits directly in the middle of the quite little Appalachian Trail town of Demascus, Virginia. The trail town of Demascus holds a Trail Days festival once every year for all of the hikers and locals to freely mingle about. Demascus, Virgina is widely known and referred to as Trail Town, USA. The Mount Rogers hostel is currently owned by the Mount Rogers Outfitters store that is located directly across the street from the hiker hostel. A dreary and exhausted hiker can sleep there for the night at a very cheap rate. The hiker hostel offers a nice and simple two bunks in each room type of sleeping arrangement. They also offer piping hot showers for a hiker who has not had acess to a hot shower for an entire week. A short distance up the street from the hiker hostel is the Blue Blaze cafe and it offers a very hiker friendly type of atmosphere. Many free snacks and fresh fruit are also abundantly available at the hiker hostel.

The Old Jailhouse Hiker Hostel

The former jailhouse in Palmerton, Pennsylvania sits directly underneath the Palmerton municipal building in the basement of downtown Palmerton. The old jailhouse was converted into a hiker hostel nearly forty years ago and stayed open for the entire forty years since being converted. It is a concrete bunker style hiker hostel that was quite cozy and very cool because of no windows being available to allow any sunlight inside of the basement.
