Bangkok Galleria 10 Sukhumvit Hotel Review
The Galleria 10 - A Chic Quality Hotel in Bangkok
One of the newest hotels close to Bangkok's nightlife and shopping centers, the Galleria 10 Sukhumvit (formerly Ramada Encore) hotel is nestled 300 meters down a quiet lane on Sukhumvit Road Soi 10. The hotel is located in a strategic location since it is close to the BTS Sky Train and MRT subways train stations. So exploring, shopping and enjoying most of Bangkok is easier because you won't have to rely on taxis and tuk tuks.
I've always wanted to take make a review of the Galleria 10 since I've read and heard many positive reviews about this new popular hotel in the Sukhumvit district. But I wanted to wait for the right discount since December is the high season for hotel rates in most of Thailand. And the Sukhumvit district is a popular area for tourists to stay in central Bangkok so hotel rates there will cost higher.
I paid $70 USD per night for a superior room which at the time was about 2100 Baht and it includes taxes and full buffet breakfast. Which is not a bad price at all considering the hotel's normal rates are above $100 USD.
It is not often that I make reviews of hotels with high price tags. And yes the Galleria is on the pricey side for most but the best discounts are out there if you know where to find them.

Click thumbnail to view full-sizeThere is free Internet Wi-Fi access throughout the Galleria 10 Sukhumvit Hotel. The speed was quite good for surfing the web.
However if you want faster speed such as 1mb access you will have to pay.
Check in was fast at the reception and they do require a credit card deposit which was about 1000 Baht. I was given a non-smoking room as I had requested on the 5th floor, room 522, which is a superior room. The first impression I had of my room was that it is small. But it was clean and the furnishings are of high quality.
There is a big flat screen television with around 30 channels. The bed is a king size and really comfortable like most beds in Bangkok within the same price range and quality. The bathrooms is quite big and the shower had a rainstyled shower head which I really enjoyed. Although it did take about a minute for the water to heat up though.

How to Get to Galleria 10 Sukhumvit Hotel from the Airport
I recommended taking the Airport Rail Link from Suvarnabhumi Airport if you are not carrying a lot of luggage. Keep in mind however that the train systems in the city stop officially at 12am but the stations will not accept any more passengers close to 11:30pm.
Take the airport commuter train to Phaya Thai BTS Station which is the last stop. The fare only cost 45 Baht for the 30 minute trip.
From Phaya Thai station take the Sky train to Asoke station. The fare cost 30 Baht and will take about 10 minutes. From Asoke station look for the signs leading to Exit #2 and head straight down and walk straight to Soi (lane) 10. If you see the Sheraton Grande Hotel to your left then you're heading the right direction. When you reach Soi 10, the Galleria is around 300 meters down.
Another option is to take the same airport train to Makkassan station and transfer to the Petchburi MRT subway train. However, you will have to walk some ways and if it's hot, which it often is in Bangkok it will be very uncomfortable and you wouldn't really be saving too much time.
Obviously you can always take a public taxi to the Galleria but I'm estimating the cost would be about 300 Baht including the 50 Baht airport surcharge. Sukhumvit Soi 10 is an address any taxi driver should know in Bangkok. However since the Galleria and since the name has changed from Ramada most drivers may not be aware of the exact location.
With the MRT and BTS trains stations so close to the hotel you can visit even more shopping centers and can place you closer to other main attractions in Bangkok. And there are plenty of taxis in the area so hiring a taxi in Bangkok is easy.
Overall a great hotel to stay in Bangkok!
The Galleria does not look like a big hotel but in fact there are 188 rooms, which is a lot of rooms. The reason is the rooms are a bit on the small size so they are condensed and compact. But the room's comfort is maximized and the service from the hotel staff is very professional and guest friendly.
And it's a great hotel for young guests or at least for those who are young at heart. The hotel's atmosphere is club like and if you take a look at the 8th floor you will find a very nice bar/lounge complete with a DJ's booth and a full kitchen. The 8th floor is also where a small but very adequate gym and swimming pool is located.
I find that the Galleria 10 Sukhumvit Hotel in Bangkok is a well priced hotel in an area filled with expensive hotels in the Sukhumvit district. And it's a hotel I highly recommend if you want to be in central Bangkok close to shopping, nightlife and transportation.
