1.Ocean city beach: Ocean city offers eight miles of white sand beach and also one of the best beaches in New Jersey. It takes about 20 minutes from Atlantic City, 70 minutes from Philadelphia. Its boardwalk is another big attraction. It has two ferris wheels visible for miles, a music pier, fishing pier, shops, restaurants, amusements, movie theater and arcades. Summer time is fun of fun events like hermit crab beauty pageant and more. Ocean city has seven different playgrounds for the kids to explore.

2.Point pleasant beach: Point pleasant beach is located at the top of the intercoastal waterway in Ocean County, New jersey. Point pleasant beach is popular for the seafood festival in september. The boardwalk is home to restaurants, coffee shops, cafes rides and arcades.

3.Avalon beach: Avalon beach offers swimming, fishing, crabbing, basketball courts, tennis courts, parks, playgrounds, restaurants and family activities. Water parks and amusements parks is just 20 minute ride from the beach. Avalon beach is one of the best beaches for kids and children.

4. Wildwood beach: Wildwood beach host to a number of events volleyball tournaments, movies on the beach, and truck rallies and wildwood international kite festival. Other activities include surfing and skim boarding. Wildwood boardwalk has amusements, shops and restaurants. Wildwood beach is another best beach in New Jersey.

5.Cape may beach: Cape may beach on the shore of delaware bay. Cape may beach offers shops, restaurants, fishing guides, boating, outdoor fun and sightseeing tours.

6.Long beach island: Long island beach is an 18 mile long barrier island off the coast of New Jersey. Its white sandy beaches and small resort towns make it a popular summer destination. Long Beach island boasts some of the most beautiful beaches on the east coast, as well as hundreds of boutiques and restaurants.

      I live at the Jersey shore, and have to agree, Ocean City has one of the nicest beaches in the state.

      I often go to Ocean City, Maryland which, due to a sudden spate of over development, is not the lovely little town it once was. (Of course they can't wreck the ocean). I wonder if any of those NJ beaches that you mentioned still retain an old fashioned beach town atmosphere.
