Best Beaches in Goa - Part II

Updated on June 5, 2009

Hope you read the first part of this hub "Best Beaches in Goa" and am glad you are continuing to find out the rest of the beach on the top 10 list. There are plenty of great beaches in Goa and what is more fun than spending time with family and friends along the coastline where the party town Goa has so much to offer from fine food to great shows.

6. Sernabatim beach, Goa

The Sernabatim Beach is quiet and secluded near Colva. It's a perfect beach for you to spend some quality and relaxing time. You can take a walk along the beach, enjoy nature or mingle with the villagers. If you are looking for some nightlife, Colva is a better place. You can go on trips to see the island or go on boats to spot dolphins. For eating out, there are beachfront bars and restaurants. Cheap and affordable accommodation is available by the beachside.

7. Baga beach

Baga beach is a small beach but known for its liveliness because of the "shack life". There are many popular food and drink places including St. Anthony's seafood and Tito's bar for nighttime entertainment.  The beach drops steeply to the coastline where fishing canoes make use of the easy boat launching conditions to provide rides. The beach gets its name from the Baga river whose mouth is at the end of the beach's northern end.

8. Vagator beaches

Vagator springs are the two fresh water springs in Vagator are among its major tourist attractions. One is located at the foot of a hill at the north Vagator beach, the other being in Ozrant, and is called Zor in the local language. There is a picturesque beach  with a fort on the rocky headland. The atmosphere is laidback attracting backpackers, hippies and ravers. The beach is relatively quieter than Anjuna, Baga or Calangute. However, you can opt for swimming which is quite safe here. Some local shacks will offer you the necessary gear for swimming and other water sports. Shopping enthusiasts can look forward to a wide range of souvenirs and garments at the local markets, largely sold by hawkers.

9. Bogmalo beach, Goa

Bogmalo beach is the  main diving center and has a small exclusive beach with water sports making it one of the best beaches in Goa because of its proximity to the airport. Bogmalo's asset is its boating and water-sports facilities including diving, jet skiing, etc. For a lunch break, try the Seagull, a simple, thatched-roof shack right on the beach—they serve some of the best shrimp curry rice in Goa.

10. Morjim beach

The beaches at the Morjim and Mandrem area are clean but not so inspiring. It is a peaceful and undeveloped area where you can get away from all the crowd and the citylife making it into the list of best beaches in Goa. Morjim is home to the Olive Ridley sea turtle. Till not so long back these elusive little animals were found nesting through out the coast of Goa, but unfortunately now only nest in a few beaches along the coast, Morjim being one.

Talpona beach, Goa

Located on the banks of the Arabian Sea, in Canacona taluk, Talpona is a small fishing village in South Goa District. Galjibaga is nearly 2 km south and Poinguinim is 4 km east. The Talpona Beach, a remote beach with some small dunes, is the prime attraction. The Talpona river joins the Arabian Sea here. Galjibaga Beach, Rajbhag Beach and Polem Beach are the nearest tourist spots. Goa Airport and Canacona Railway Station are the nearest airport and railway station respectively.
