Updated on February 7, 2012

Lake Okeechobee - The Big "O"

Lake Okeechobee known as, The Big "O", is a world famous bass fishery located in Florida on the largest freshwater lake in the state and the 2nd largest freshwater lake in the continental United States. Lake Okeechobee is a destination that can be enjoyed throughout the year and provides some of the best wintertime fishing in the country despite having cold nighttime temperatures big fish can be caught from these waters in months that other lakes around the country are still frozen over. This lake is just massive it is around 730 square miles of shallow water. Due to this fact it makes the lake an amazing environment for large mouth bass that like to bury in heavy grasses and other types of shallow vegetation that the lake is known for. Check out the resources below the launch ramp map in order to connect with locals about the current hot baits, areas of the lake, and the techniques that will help you catch the fish you are after. If you are traveling to the lake for fishing your first time make sure to bring your bait casting rod with heavy line and get ready to hook a monster.
